I agree it's a light punishment and that the picks themselves are a crapshoot. But still losing half of your draft pool allotment hurts.

It seems harsh at 1st then you realize one of the picks they have to give up is a freaking competitive balance pick.

And the 1st round pick = Dexter Fowler.

Late on this, but my god, Sean Rodriguez and his family was involved in a car crash with a stolen police car! Seems like the Rodriguez's will all pull through, but the driver of the stolen police car did not.

It's not enough to stay away from driving drunk in Caribbean countries; people have to avoid the bath salt zombies in Miami, too.

Good to see him and his family are doing better. He was great with the Pirates, wish him the best in Atlanta.

Everytime I watch this commercial, it cracks me up.

@ESPN: This is what you used to do with the "This is Sportscenter" stuff. I still remember the commercial with Roger Clemens and an auto-pitcher.

And next year Vlad more than likely goes into the baseball HOF and then hopefully Halladay goes in within first few years of eligibility. Multiple CY Young awards and one of just 5 in MLB history to win a Cy Young in both leagues(3 of those 5 are in the HOF. Clemens is one of the 2 not in it for obvious reasons, and Halladay isn't eligible until 2019)

I loved the book "Up, Up and Away..." (about the Expos).
In it, there's a great anecdote about when Moises Alou SR called up Wlad from the minor's.
He had a meeting with the other coaches and told them despite his rough edges to NOT do anything about it.
He knew how special Vlad was and didn't want him changed in the least, regardless of how many mistakes he made. He wanted him to use his natural gifts and not have anyone stifle him.
Not sure it was in his first game up, but a ball is hit to RF, he picks it up and proceeds to completely ignore the cutoff man and fires a rope to home where he had he had the runner out by 20'.
Except the ball went over the catchers head by about 12', haha.
SR says nothing and tells his coaches to say nothing.

And then of course there was his propensity to swing at anything that could have hit the backstop.
One pitcher said that he threw a breaking ball about 8" outside the zone and not only did Vlad swing at it, he drove it out of the park.
I'm paraphrasing but he said something like "Where the heck am I supposed to throw it!? He swings at and hits everything!"

I really hope he's a first ballot HOFer.
And I really hope we see the return of the Expos sooner than later.

I mean he retired at 36. So not really that early. I would say that is average year for someone to retire in the MLB.

Average maybe, but it didn't feel that way at all. It seemed like he went from Superstar RF to great hitting DH, to washed up minor leaguer over the span of like 4 years. I think Vlad was one of the first guys that I was actually sad to see at DH, just because I remembered how much fun he always had and delivered playing in Right with that arm.

Also, not just literally. I think he just meant more like it'd be great if there were someone who played like Vlad now. Fun is the first word I'd use to describe that style for sure. He was so much fun to watch.
