I like that the Diamondbacks do it because they're the only team that does it. I don't love it at all, but I'm for a team doing something distinguishing, like when the A's had white cleats or how the Marlins have like seventeen colors. I mean imagine if every team that built a new stadium said: "The green monster is cool, let's make one!"

Technically all teams are the same now (Exception being AZ). The road gray is the same gray for every team currently unless a team is wearing an alternate top. Wouldn't be any different then it is now, just the gray will be dark for every team.

I'm siding heavy with the non fans here. During the Red Sox series, someone got a walk, which obviously takes a little while, no worries. Then a visit from the pitching coach. Then the commentator says "We'll probably see some throw overs here to buy the guy in the pen some time". Two pick off attempts and minutes later, the coach takes him out of the game.

I was sitting there with my mouth open lol. I had never realized how embedded into the game the simple act of wasting time was for some reason. If I was showing a friend that, and they asked me to change the channel, I wouldn't even blame them.

Eh. You call it time wasting. I call it strategy. Toe-may-toe, toe-mah-toe.

I'm not saying everything that happens on the field has a strategic element to it, but management and usage of the bullpen is a pretty good example of one.

I don't deny it's strategic. The hitting coach coming out of the dugout to discuss the scouting report of the new pitcher with the batter in the box would be strategic. It's just a strategy that wastes time. Like a QB kneel, but worse.

Even a kneel is to make time go quicker. I'd say a spike but it just doesn't work because of the timer. Maybe it's more like a boxer clinching out of desperation? I dunno, it's just terrible to watch.

Drop the outs and just go all in. You make innings 5 minutes long, timers on pitchers, clock stops when ball is in play.

You'll get rid of a lot of walks. Games would be under 3 hours. It'll be a grand old time!

You know if they did this players would just find other ways to waste time. Fake injuries for timeouts, fake uniform malfunctions, letting the ball just sit on the ground in play, etc. Lol.

The amount of strikeouts in MLB is also driving up game time, but since the main culprit is rising velocity, I'm not sure how you easily fix that issue.

Aw crap! I've heard of The Athletic. It's one of a few sports sites that are rising to some prominence. The Rosenthal hire is definitely a feather in their cap for sure.

You can't run out the clock in baseball, can't dribble it out, I feel like my team is still in it no matter how many runs they're down in the late innings. I've admitted to not being the world's biggest baseball fan before, but the fact it isn't confined to a clock is something I actually enjoy about it

I guess I just see it differently because a clock to make the pitcher work faster doesn't change any of that to me. You still won't be able to run out the clock, it won't affect the amount of time a team has to get back in the game, etc.

The only thing i'd want to change about the baseball is enforcing the rule that hitters should be in the batter's box almost all the time. Just look at Aaron Judge. He usually only puts one foot out of the box then gets right back in.
