I know that. What I'm saying is I wouldn't want every team to do that, just an exception such as Arizona.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
I'm siding heavy with the non fans here. During the Red Sox series, someone got a walk, which obviously takes a little while, no worries. Then a visit from the pitching coach. Then the commentator says "We'll probably see some throw overs here to buy the guy in the pen some time". Two pick off attempts and minutes later, the coach takes him out of the game.
I was sitting there with my mouth open lol. I had never realized how embedded into the game the simple act of wasting time was for some reason. If I was showing a friend that, and they asked me to change the channel, I wouldn't even blame them.
I'm not saying everything that happens on the field has a strategic element to it, but management and usage of the bullpen is a pretty good example of one.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
Even a kneel is to make time go quicker. I'd say a spike but it just doesn't work because of the timer. Maybe it's more like a boxer clinching out of desperation? I dunno, it's just terrible to watch.Last edited by DieHardYankee26; 08-23-2017, 02:14 PM.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Re: MLB Off-Topic
I don't deny it's strategic. The hitting coach coming out of the dugout to discuss the scouting report of the new pitcher with the batter in the box would be strategic. It's just a strategy that wastes time. Like a QB kneel, but worse.

Drop the outs and just go all in. You make innings 5 minutes long, timers on pitchers, clock stops when ball is in play.
You'll get rid of a lot of walks. Games would be under 3 hours. It'll be a grand old time!

Re: MLB Off-Topic
I know you aren't saying this but I'm honestly surprised someone hasn't tried to push time limits in innings.

Re: MLB Off-Topic
The amount of strikeouts in MLB is also driving up game time, but since the main culprit is rising velocity, I'm not sure how you easily fix that issue.I write things on the Internet.

Ken Rosenthal has found a new place to write, The Athletic.
When I entered this business, I had one goal and one goal only. To write. I never imagined being on television. I certainly never imagined breaking stories in 140 characters or less. The internet, Twitter, even 24-7 sports-talk radio . . . none of those possibilities existed when I graduated from...

Re: MLB Off-Topic
Anyone know much about the site? They have a 50% off sale right now. $30 for the year.
I like Rosenthal. Not sure I'll pay anything for just his coverage but I'm willing to support a site dedicated to the written word over pop ups and videos annoying the heck out of me.

Re: MLB Off-Topic
I like how baseball doesn't have time constraints because the game is never freaking over until the last out. You can't run out the clock in baseball, can't dribble it out, I feel like my team is still in it no matter how many runs they're down in the late innings. I've admitted to not being the world's biggest baseball fan before, but the fact it isn't confined to a clock is something I actually enjoy about itWolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
The only thing i'd want to change about the baseball is enforcing the rule that hitters should be in the batter's box almost all the time. Just look at Aaron Judge. He usually only puts one foot out of the box then gets right back in.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club
