Kris Bryant has 24 HRs and less than 60 RBIs...

That's Alfonso Soriano numbers...KB has an OPS of .940+, though.

This was the result I was afraid of when Maddon insisted on using Bryant in the 2-spot.

He's driving in less but he's walking more frequently and scoring runs at a similar pace to last year - and that's ignoring the fact the Cubs are less the run scoring machine they were a year ago.

Unfortunately, if your concern is winning an MVP, you're right that voters will likely ignore him because of his RBI.

He was also much better hitting with men on base and men in scoring position last year. He's gone from a 146 WRC+ with men on base and 117 in scoring position to a 119 and 94.

There's was actually an article on fangraphs about how historically "unclutch" he's been.

Yeah it has nothing to do with hitting in the 2 spot and everything to do with him not performing as well in RBI chances.

They probably got that article idea, ahem, from a post I made on here a few weeks ago. Ahem...

He's been demonstrably worse in RBI spots this year.

                    Re: MLB Off-Topic

I want replay to be gone yesterday.

They don't do it right, they can't be overruled, they don't acknowledge the fans, they take too long, and the rulings are nitpicked to death.

It just took away a home run, run scored and run batted in from Brandon Crawford, and kicked out two fans.

EDIT: And let me clarify that their call was incorrect. The umpires in New York didn't even know the AT&T Park ground rules, and it messed everything up. I won't say it messed them up in the game, because being the ninth inning I personally believe that with the tying run still in-the-hole at that moment that strategically absolutely nothing changed (not like Crawford was in a position to be forced or anything).

SECOND EDIT: I also want to note that I fully recognize the Giants also caught a break on a replay review that was not overturned when it should have been. But that once again still points to the replay system not working correctly if correct calls aren't being made.

Well, that's what my first point was... but I agree that it's worth restating again.

But now that I see my "They don't do it right," I want to add that it's extremely stupid when you can't review certain things like a foul ball hitting the dirt versus catching the ball, or a foul versus a miss, etc.

Totally agree. I think they should get rid of it. It's a half measure. You can't have a process by which we say it's necessary that certain calls are right and the most commonly blown calls (balls and strikes) are just a victim of the human element. Pick one or the other. We've ended up with the worst of both worlds.

I think you'll see Replay changed drastically or done away with if they make a clearly bad call after staring at the replays for literally 5 minutes and it costs a team a game in the playoffs or more importantly a series.

It's a terrible system and if they're going to keep it then they really REALLY need to implement the crew chief going on mike and explaining what they saw as I posted about a long time ago.

Replay sucks. Count me in. Never really liked the idea and I like it less every time it takes somebody in New York with "more angles" (TM) 5 minutes to get it wrong. The whole culture of 'let's wait a few seconds so my guys upstairs can tell me if this insignificant call needs to be challenged or not' is just bad. An abomination to the sport. The (mis)calls average out statistically; why can't we be ok with that? Let's do replay on HR calls in the playoffs--which is the real reason it came about anyway--and let everything else go back to the way it used to be. Or let's just eliminate the human umps entirely and put Skynet in charge all over the field right now.
