Judge, Altuve, Ramirez. Who's your AL MVP?

A couple interesting notes that have materialized today:

          - Pete Mackanin won't be returning as Phillies manager next year. I guess that makes some kind of sense. He seemed like the kind of guy you have in place for developmental purposes then you can get someone who has a proven track record as a manager to take over. It'll be interesting to see what the Phils do in regard to that.

          - According to Bob Nightengale the Cardinals will be pursuing a trade with the Blue Jays for Josh Donaldson. If i'm Shapiro and Atkins I listen long and hard then try to clean em out. After the Encarnacion imbroglio they need to either sign Donaldson long term or if they trade him they have to get at least one high performance MLB guy and a couple close to MLB ready prospects. I have a feeling this will be a major story during the winter meetings this offseason.

Gotta think that if something materializes in this deal, then the Cardinals will look to send some of their overcrowded outfielders to Toronto.

            Dexter Fowler is available

I feel like Bo Porter got a bad rap in Houston with a similar scenario...take on a terrible team, wade thru the bad years while the talent gets to the big leagues...then get canned with another MGR reaps the success.

Considering the Jays were among the finalists for Fowler's services I can definitely see him involved in such a trade.

I don't see how Fowler fits in with Toronto unless Pillar is not being kept around. I think Dexter and his full NTC wants to be a CF...not sure he'd be on board with a corner OF/DH type gig.

I could see Weaver + Pham + a bit extra for Donaldson.

Sano has been reinstated for the Twins. Massive return for Minnesota if he's right.

Pillar can play LF while either Alford/Hernandez play in right. It's not that big of a deal for the Jays that way as they really have tons of holes in the OF. There is actually some scuttlebutt that management would be wise to try and deal Pillar this offseason as unpopular as it may seem.

                        He could be their Schwarber.

That wouldn't make any sense at all. Shift a GG caliber CF to the corner just to accommodate a deal for an aging, overpaid OF (sorry, Dex) just so you can deal away your best player (Donaldson) in the process? Have you been chatting with Jim Bowden or a certain Red Sox 1st base coach?

It would seem a lot more logical to go after a guy like Pham or Piscotty or Sierra (or Grichuk if you can play the Cubs 30-40 times per season), get that 2-4 WAR from one of them all while playing them where you tell them to play. Assuming a financial motivation for moving Donaldson, I'd have to believe they'd avoid paying Fowler for 4 years and ~65 million dollars under any circumstances.

Yeah, i'm just giving a counter argument. Like I said, the Jays have to get a proven MLB guy or two and a close to MLB prospect in return for any Donaldson deal IMO. I like your idea too as well.

I guess time will tell what happens.

It'll probably be Altuve, but it should still be Trout. Don't mind anyone winning it though, and I think Judge really bolstered his case with the month he's had.
