Re: MLB Off-Topic
Scary...
MLB.com’s Jeffrey Flanagan spoke to Royals manager Ned Yost following emergency surgery to repair a “shattered” pelvis that he sustained when falling an estimated 20 feet out of a hunting stand nine days ago. Yost, who just returned home from the hospital yesterday and is expected to be confined to a wheelchair for the next two months, tells Flanagan in a lengthy interview that he feels lucky to be alive. “There’s no doubt I would have bled out if I didn’t have my cellphone with me,” says Yost, who was helicoptered to a nearby hospital after his fall.
Surgeons told Yost after he had awoken that this type of injury comes with a “25 to 30 percent mortality rate” and that the doctors had grown genuinely concerned as they were initially unable to stop his internal bleeding. Thankfully, however, Yost is now hopeful that he can be on his feet again by the time Spring Training begins. It’s an enormous relief to learn that the 63-year-old Yost, who is entering his ninth season as the manager in Kansas City, is seemingly out of danger and on the road back to full health. Best wishes to him on what will hopefully be as quick a recovery as possible, under the circumstances.Milwaukee Brewers | Green Bay Packers | North Carolina Tar Heels | Wisconsin BadgersComment

Jeez. That sounds ****ing horrendous.
Looks like Anthopolous has pretty much full reign over baseball ops now. Hart's role is diminished too.
I hope he learned to have a bit of a steady hand during his time with the Dodgers because some of his Blue Jays deals ended up pretty bad. I like that he wants to strike while the iron's hot though.Comment

In fact, for most of his tenure people complained that he didn't do anything to make the Jays better by way of free agency or blockbuster deals. He's a very patient guy. I will agree that Alex is one of those guys who wants to retain as much power and control as he can to make the team into his own image. I wouldn't be surprised if he brings some people in who have Blue Jays ties.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Bobby Doerr passed away last night at the age of 99. He was teammates with Ted Williams, Johnny Pesky, and Don DiMaggio. He spent 27 years in a Red Sox uniform as a player and coach.
At 99, he was the oldest living baseball player and the only Hall of Famer to make it to 99.Boston Red Sox

Re: MLB Off-Topic
I'm guessing Carlos Beltran was in that game, and is now the last one? Can't remember because I never chose him if so. (EDIT: Didn't even see the top of that picture)
Anyway, if you consider BB 2003, I know Ichiro and Pujols are on that game so we still thankfully have a few more years to go there. Don't know if Rollins is retired, but he's also not active so there's that.
Just wish the Giants would sign Bonds to LF already, though he's not a part of the MLBPA either so I don't know if he'd count.
God, I love that game. If you count the fictional characters, Pablo Sanchez is a recurring character even up to Backyard Sports Baseball 2015 (mobile game). Don't know if any of the other fictional characters are on it.Last edited by Blzer; 11-14-2017, 03:31 PM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment
