I think it's more awkward for the Yankees...you fire the guy, he wins Manager of the Year. Still can't believe he's out of a job...thought for sure someone would have hired him by now.

The awards were voted on before the postseason but I hear you on that point. Thank goodness he didn't win as that would've made for some AWKWARD TV. At least there was a time when the awards weren't announced on live television for everyone to see.

I like that even though the Indians and Astros had historically good teams, they recognized that Molitor went from losing that many games the year before to improving like they did.

Yeah I don't think you could give AL manager of the year award to anyone else but Molitor. You take a team that lost 100 games and put them in the playoffs the next year?....that's impressive.

Don't forget management basically said "we're not contenders" and did a mini sell-off but Molitor convinced that team to keep fighting to get there.

Scherzer and Kluber take home the Cy Young Awards.

#3 for Scherzer and #2 for Kluber. It's weird for me to think that Scherzer is just one Cy Young award away from matching Greg Maddux career mark.

I can't believe he has 3 while Kershaw is pitching.

I know injuries and stuff but it's still fascinating to me.

Edit. Scherzer has one from Detroit, right? That would explain it.

Well, his first was in the AL so Kershaw couldn't stop him there, but Kershaw being injured the last two years has definitely helped him come out on top.

BTW - it was nice to see Kluber show up for the Cy Young interviews. I wasn't sure after the playoffs...

Do view Scherzer in the same light as some other HOF pitchers who've won multiple Cy Young awards? I mean he's great and all but maybe by virtue of playing in the markets he has he doesn't get the extreme hype around him. It's always been more of "these are the best pitchers and Scherzer is among them." kind of thing or maybe i'm just not paying attention?

                      Helluva pitcher tho.

Kevin Maitan, Ji-Hwan Bae, and Abrahan Gutierrez are potential prospects the Braves could lose.

What will happen to the prospects if they lose them? Do they become free agents?
