I have been to the Trop multiple times and it is really not as bad as people make it out to be.

The 9 and 1 guys need to get on. If you bat Bryant lower, who bats 2nd that suddenly will get on base?

Over 66% of his HRs were solo shots.

If they're happy with Bryant putting up Soriano numbers, that's fine...sure, he scored a lot of runs...but he's the best power hitter in the team's history, and they can't manage to figure out how to make that work.

Rizzo is a much better contact hitter and much more likely to walk. Let him benefit from hitting in front of Bryant, and let KB come up with more men on base. Rizzo/Bryant/Schwarber/Contreras could go 2-5 or 3-6, keep the Lefty/Righty thing going...

I agree with this whole heartedly. Rizzo is one of the few on-base machines in the Cubs lineup. Put him in the 2 hole, hit KB 3, Contreras 4, then whatever. Gives KB more chances to hit with runners on more than likely, and Rizzo is just a much more developed overall hitter than KB right now.

Have we forgotten Sammy already? How about Hack Wilson? Ernie Banks? Billy Williams? That's a lot of really good power hitters you just put him over...

Hell, he's got a couple teammates that are really good power hitters.

Just read the other day that the Angels have not won a playoff game in Mike Trout's tenure. They've only had 1 playoff appearance as well.

Well, they've only been one time (2014) and the Royals swept them...so hard to win one when you aren't there.

Yeah I know that. I just thought it was a crazy stat, but that's what happens when you don't really build around a star player and your farm system is next to nothing.

10 WAR seasons from Trout haven't been cutting it for them, so let's set if Mike can turn it up to 11.

                    Spoiler

They seem to be a playoff caliber team this year actually. Ohtani should help. Simmons is still quite good. Calhoun and a full year of Justin Upton gives them decent bookends in the OF. Maldonado has become one of the best defensive catchers in the game. Kinsler is new to the team and is better than a potpourri of Taylor Featherston/Johnny Giavotella/Grant Green and friends at 2B. Pujols can't be worse than last year. If he is, he probably will get released. Hard to imagine he still has 4 years and $116MM to go on that monstrosity.

Their big question mark is healthy starting pitchers or unhealthy ones. I like them to earn a Wild Card spot this year.

                      No, I haven't forgotten.

I'm not counting Sammy, though I certainly enjoyed watching him. Put up great numbers, too.

Williams would be the only one I'd consider an argument, though, despite the Aaron-esque consistency of Banks

I hope we get to see KB with a long Cub career so that we can compare numbers 10yrs down the road.

Edit: and goodness...Banks and Williams on the same team for ten years, and no post season

They are screwed now because the Astros are stacked...a few years ago Texas was kicking them up and down.

I think the organization is tired, fatigued...they had that WS run forever ago, but were never able to right the ship enough afterwards, despite a few big signings...it seems like we've been expecting them to return to the top for a while now...and it's just not happening.

Now they have arguably the best of his generation, and can't figure it out.

Posted this in the college thread, but it's so nuts that I figured I'd post it here.

Mississippi Valley State played New Mexico State this weekend, 3 game series.

New Mexico State outscored the Delta Devils 74-4.

                          39-0, 15-4, 20-0.
