Give me 3 minutes. I can tell you, however, that Jim Palmer pitched the most innings without ever giving up a grand slam (3,948).
EDIT: Kenny Rogers gave up 11, the most all-time for one pitcher.Last edited by TripleCrown9; 07-20-2018, 11:29 AM.Boston Red Sox

Re: MLB Off-Topic
Yes, this is correct and it's a problem.
This is what I mean about the NBA. The NBA spends zero effort harming their game. Anytime someone says something negative about the game today, the league immediately defends what it is and talks highlights and improvements.
Baseball, the media and its commissioner love to harp on how bad baseball is today. When the people paid to market the game are telling fans it used to be better, it's impossible to grab new fans. Why would they watch something they are told isn't any good?
I can understand fans complaining. That's what fans do. NBA fans do the same. The 90s this. Jordan that.
But the NBA never jumps in with them. Never criticizes the three point ball or spread offenses. They may say they need to look into it to determine if it's healthy for the longterm but in any comment like that you'll hear a "but the game is amazing!"
MLB could learn to do the same.

Re: MLB Off-Topic
I'm not sure I understand what you're pointing to as the root cause. Are you saying ESPN decided baseball isn't cool and now no one wants to watch it or follow the players?
Isn't this kind of chicken and egg? The MLB deal is less money than the others BECAUSE the sport is less popular?
Nah I don't think so. People are trendy by nature. They get their cues on what to like from others. If the media they're consuming doesn't treat baseball with respect or intrigue or is totally dismissive and mocking of it, they're not going to care or care to learn about it.
That's why you have trite people who think baseball is boring. Nobody has put in the effort to explain otherwise, like why stuff is happening even when "nothing is happening."Last edited by TheMatrix31; 07-20-2018, 12:27 PM.Comment

The NBA get constant flak from former players about the current state of the game

Some of that happens in broadcast games for baseball too.

The only problems that I think MLB does actually have are (1) injuries, and arm injuries in particular and (2) potential labor strife between MLBPA and the owners. For me, that's an exhaustive list of MLB's problems.
Regarding the broadcast of games I really don't want to see players mic'd up all the time. That's a bit ridiculous. If they do something like that then it has to be done where it's as natural as possible (basically the way they do it for NFL Films) so if it's all game long at least it won't detract from the game with players playing to the fact that they can be heard on the broadcast.
Basically, if they're going to do that do it like they do with curling.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
I hear more, "baseball is boring, "I can't sit through a whole game," and, "it takes forever," talk from everyday casual sports fan than from anyone in the media or MLB. It's not a fake narrative that has been perpetuated to the point that people just believe it via osmosis. It's an actual thing.
If you love baseball then obviously you don't see or understand the problem, and there's obviously nothing wrong with that.Comment

Instead of that, what people do with baseball (and baseball moreso than anything else I can think of) is: let's tear everything down, leave no stone unturned to go on a crusade so that Bob Smith from Grand Rapids, Michigan or LeeRoy Jenkins from Starkville, Mississippi will like us a bit more than NFL, NBA, and NASCAR. That's just silly. I don't completely understand it, when the sport is very profitable and extremely compelling to millions, why people are trying so hard to add Bob Smith and LeeRoy Jenkins at the expense of changing anything and everything that people already like. No other successful business seems to operate under the constant public scrutiny to "expand its brand" like MLB.
You might say businesses must grow or die. But MLB is growing:
