    Re: MLB Off-Topic

I don't care what it's called, but political correctness is the last thing that goes through my mind when I speak or write out the term.

Seriously, if no one said that was the reason I would have thought it was because "Injury" is faster to type than "Disabled," yet another way that the MLB would be upping the pace.

Surely they did this on their own merit, because I hope people weren't up in arms over the previous name because 2019.

EDIT: Whoa, no pun intended there.

        Yeah, still gonna say DL.

Just gonna be dumb to not see it written as DL. Pointless.

Sorry, you don't get to change it and then change it back. I will continue to refer to him as Melvin.

          Make up your mind, B.J.

The sad thing about that is the change probably won’t make it into The Show till next year

Uhhh this is just blatantly untrue. There absolutely 100% is tanking in baseball and it’s become more and more prevalent. The Rays, Astros, Cubs are all shining examples of teams that succeeded doing it. The Marlins are a prime example of a team currently doing it. And it absolutely is hurting the game.

Rewarding a team for coming in Last is a very outdated American idea and it needs to change.

As the parent of a child with a disability, it didn't bother me that it was called the disabled list. But I can also understand, and appreciate, the reason behind changing the name.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

I get it, (I’m technically disabled but I don’t call myself that just Deaf and have a daughter with health issues as well) but I’ve never seen it that way. Maybe if it was people who doesn’t really follow baseball and sees that and go eh? All sports may as well use one term, like IR or IL (that really looks weird lol) or whatever.

I became an Oriole fan when my dad took me and my brother to Memorial Stadium in 1965 to see a game against the Minnesota Twins. I actually remember much of the offseason talk leading to the 1966 season was about Frank being an "old 30" referring now to the infamous trade that the Reds bungled. He was my first and favorite sports hero even surpassing Johnny Unitas.

That's rich...I mean, retrospectively Robinson deserved more votes but the thing is, he's one of those guys who got lost in the shuffle. There was a discussion about him on the radio here last night and it was discussed that he was hurt by playing in small markets (Cincy, Baltimore and Cleveland) so people didn't really get to see/hear a lot of him.

I always thought disabled list was a stupid name that was just another thing the traditionalists would get red faced and cross eyed if someone tried to change it.

Sounds like that assumption was correct. No one hates baseball more than them.

Except for guys like Rob Manfred and baseball writers and media who seemingly can't go one day without saying something is wrong with their sport and proposing a million changes to non-existent/manufactured problems, but hey.
