You can't see it because the picture is too small but that brand of cigar is a Phillie blunt. The red label actually has the word Phillie on it.

I got the Mariners last thru the process of elimination.

29 out of 30. I missed the Brewers because I went blank and couldn't remember which team I hadn't figured out.

Kyler Murray appears to be a full go on football. Too bad for Oakland, but I think he's making the right decision. The odds of him becoming a good NFL player are tremendously higher than him becoming a good MLB player.

Yea, as an A’s fan I’m disappointed but he absolutely made the right decision. And I’m not even convinced he’s going to be all that successful (conversation for a different forum).

Imagine having a top prospect choosing between two sports and the most you can offer is bus rides for 3 years, team control for 6, and then being told you're too old for a long term contract. No brainer.

This is what's broken with baseball. But the owners rather have us focus on pace of play.

I know they don't have a union and doing so would probably endanger almost all of the fringe guys but I wouldn't mind it if all the minor league players just refuse to take the field until they get some attention. These guys are just barely above indentured servants.

You can also offer a longer career, way lower chance of injury, and the probability of greater earning potential over the course of a career.

Not in the next 6 years. Do you want $15M guaranteed and $30-40M starting in a few months, or do you want the chance for a big payday in 6-8 years?

Strongly disagree about the earning potential, football pays a hell of a lot more FOR QBs than baseball. If you are talking playing DL, HB, WR, OL, DB, TE sure the earning potential in the MLB is probably better. But not for a QB. Matt Stafford has earned the same amount in his career than arguably the best LHP in baseball, Clayton Kershaw. If you were starting a franchise how many QBs would you take before you got to Stafford? Now how many LHPs would you take over Kershaw?
