Re: MLB Off-Topic
What's not pretty? I'm not a Yankees fan, so how would I know this stuff? Most of this was news to me. I'll just go point-by-point with what I took issue with.
1. The fact that everyone in baseball has to get on board with analytics or else. Just shows me there's no diversity of thought or approach anymore. That's what's really ruining baseball in my opinion. Not pitch clocks or mound visits. The game is so homogeneous, it makes it incredibly dull. I have watched less and less baseball as I've gotten older because of this. The only differences between teams are the jerseys.
2. Having the stats guys up in Boone's craw every day has to be annoying as hell for him. Then they'll throw him under the bus if he "goes rogue" and doesn't do what they say if it doesn't work out. Maybe he doesn't care, but I'd quit if I was him. Tell Cashman or one of his cronies to do it.
3. Brian Cashman looks like a sensitive egotistical ***. He got mad because Girardi called out Gary Sanchez's terrible defense and was basically triggered by all the years of George Steinbrenner holding him accountable and now that he's gone, had carte blanche to fire Girardi because of that. He could use the "not connecting with players" card to justify it, but it was a power play.
He has all this authority and power without the kind of resume to claim he deserves it. I know a lot of people will disagree but the Yankees have every advantage in the sport and this guy has built 1 WS winner from scratch in 20 years, back in 2009. So how good is he really? He wouldn't have a single WS appearance if he hadn't worked for the Yankees and taken over a stacked team that was built for him.
4. I've always felt Girardi was one of the better managers in the game and did a good job of managing pitcher usage and getting more out of lesser talented teams. To see him get canned because of some bum's unchecked ego getting hurt was probably the most damning thing in here for.
1. Not every team in baseball use analytics the same way. But in contrast to that. Every sport copy cats new winning strategies until newer ones come along. It’s been that way in every sport for a long time.
2. Boone is a massive Sabermetiec guy so I doubt it. By all accounts he works pretty closely with the Yankees analytics department. In the book they say that what clinched his interview was they gave him saber stats for 9 players but no names. He was asked to generate a starting lineup using only the stats. He matched the lineup perfectly 9/9.
3. The Sanchez thing was the straw that broke the camels back. It wasn’t the only reason. A big part of the managers job is to be the face of the franchise. They were unhappy with how sullen and combative he was with the media. And yes, Cashman had zero desire to allow the Yankees to return to a time when players and managements battled it out on the back pages. Add that his stand-offish behavior in the clubhouse and they wanted someone new.
And to say Cashman hasn’t earned his reputation as one of the best and most respected GM’s in sports represents either a fundamental misunderstanding of what that means or simply a massive bias against him.
4. Girardi is a good manager but 10 years is a long time. Even great managers messages can start to lose their strength over that long a period of time. It was time for a fresh face with more of an ability to relate to the younger players and the evolving needs that comes with them.

Oh you silly Americans who see no value in owning a passport.
So Ryan Braun can't play in the short Montreal series because he THOUGHT he had his passport when yep, turns out he didn't.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

You see, he gave his paperwork to this sample collector guy. And that guy was really supposed to get this done. We should blame the sample collector instead because Ryan Braun probably wouldn't make a mistake.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Sounds like a pretty lazy excuse, anyone can send you your passport in no time at all these days. He probably just doesn't want to goComment

Can we not search for videos on MLB app anymore?
I seriously can’t figure where to go.
I watch videos to find stances/deliveries for The Show.

Re: MLB Off-Topic
His peers might disagree and I wouldn't expect Yankees fans to take my side on it, but that's my standard. Don't tell me you're pregnant, show me the baby. He hasn't delivered the goods enough to deserve that kind of power and prestige.Comment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
What that means to me is quite simple. That you are the best in your sport. And building 1 WS champ in 20 years when you have the Yankees' resources at your disposal is simply not good enough for anyone to claim he deserves anything better than a label of "mediocre" or "meh." He wouldn't be my in my top 5 choices if I owned a club today.

Yea He's easily a top five GM. It's really indisputable. You know how many fans would want Cashman steering their franchise. Sure he's made mistakes. But not very often do you get the best of Brian Cashman.
Seems like the word overrated gets thrown around too much today. And those who say it have little substance behind it.

I wish more GMs could be overrated like Cashman. The guy is going to be a HOF executive. Yes, being in NY raises his profile but he's still one of, if not the best GM of his era.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Just read that the MLB/Facebook arrangement has been drastically changed. It will be cut from 25 games to 6 games and they will NOT be exclusive.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club
