I feel like this joke may have already been made, particularly when it was first announced that Long Beach made the proposal. Let me double check.

Re: MLB Off-Topic
They dropped Anaheim from their name already. If they move to Long Beach they will probably still be called the Los Angeles Angels.Comment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
So apparently the Blue Jays will be enforcing a pre-game video game curfew. This wasn't imposed by management but rather, players brought it up as they thought there was too much Fortnite being played.
I wonder how many other MLB teams will look into doing something like that.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

But good to see players enforcing it. Especially with Jays about to have so many younger players, you want to make sure things like that aren't impacting them.
Apparently it was proven false in NHL, but there was a report about a top prospect having a serious fortnite addiction that his own team didn't feel like he'd make it to the pros.
Like I said, it was apparently false, but I wouldn't be surprised if around sports we see guys having their careers impacted by their gaming.Comment

I'm sure management has no idea what Fortnite is lol.

That was in the 90's he was addicted to late night gaming, so I can only imagine how common it is now that games are online and actually decent.Comment

There was an England international soccer keeper in the 00's (David James) who was a liability when he was younger apparently because he'd always be up all night playing computer games. He claimed that stopping doing it turned his career around.

I loved playing franchise modes and simming them. With how advanced games are today, cant imagine how addicting they must be. Even app games are addicting and I briefly fell into that too.Comment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
I'm glad I got out(minus odd occasion of boredom) and haven't even gone into this current gen of gaming. Was never a major PC gamer. Last PC game I bought was Warcraft...3!

But luckily I guess these games became worse and worse, far more interested in trying to get extra money out of you than actually make a great game. If they'd actually just continued to improve then I'd probably still be hooked now. Now I can't stand playing online, can't put up with all the microtransaction nonsense and only really play offline games.
If I'd grown up with this level of microtransactions being normal, then it probably wouldn't irk me so much, hell, maybe I'd even be spending extra money on them, but luckily I'm just old enough to be put off by the whole thing. Kids these days don't stand a chanceComment
