I don't buy it though. Even seeing Jays with a 200M payroll seems unlikely in near future. Player expenses last year were 180M, and that was with all the big money contracts like Donaldson, Tulo, Martin. This year there's no Donaldson, next year no more of Martins contract and Tulos drops (and almost all gone by 2021).
This isn't new, Shapiro's made comments similar to that in the past. I don't think we'll ever see a 200 million dollar payroll but somewhere in the 180s-90s is what i'd expect.

We'll see one for sure, just not soon. When the Vlads, Bichettes and others in the system enter their non team control years, Jays will have to pay up. For time being, it's just filler vets and young guys under team control, many not even arbitration eligible.

But those years won't be until mid 20s at earliest. And who knows what baseball will even be like after next cba in a few years.

Isn't he the 2nd or 3rd Astros prospect to get busted for PED's in the last year or so? IRCC, Paulino and Whitley got busted as well...maybe someone else. Seems the Astros really have figured out this winning thing.

It's one of the main reasons I'm worried about the Rays shelling out big money (by our standards) on Charlie Morton. There is something very shadey about what the Astro's are up to with pitchers. (awaits Wade Miley to suddenly be throwing high 90s')

It just adds to the time he's gonna miss, because he was already gonna miss the entire season after a Tommy John.

Very shady. Bauer is a borderline psychopath but I believed him when he said something wasn’t on the up and up down there.

How bad are ticket sales going for your not-so-promising 2019 Toronto Blue Jays? So bad they are reducing prices on a 12 ounce beer to $5.
The Blue Jays might have a tough time keeping up with their rivals in the American League East this season but when it comes to the cost of an ice cold beer, they should at least be competitive.

I haven't seen beer prices that low at a Toronto stadium since ... Well, never.

So it looks like there will be a single trade deadline this year. No August waiver deals.

Now maybe if other food prices went down, fans could enjoy themselves more too. A slice of pizza costs like $7 or something. Fries are around $5.

And ticket prices are ridiculous. Want to go to a game on the weekend? Don't worry, the cheapest possible price is $20 to basically sit at the top of the building in 500 level. 200 level starts around $40-50, and 100 level starts at $60. And this is for a game vs Tampa Bay, the cheapest possible game you could get. Following weekend vs Oakland, suddenly you're paying about 25% more.

So if you want to go to a game and eat while there, you're basically paying at least $20 for nosebleeds + another $30 or so for parking + $15 for food. That's over $65 for a cheap SINGLE PERSON experience (you could lessen expenses by taking public transportation and just don't eat or drink at game, but eventually you're just worsening your experience to save money). Given that the average person goes with at least 1 other person (especially in this case if it's a spouse or kid), that's another $35 or so at the very least for the CHEAPEST experience.

OR...you could buy MLBTV for around $100 to watch every single game on TV(assuming you don't already get Sportsnet, which is included on the most basic of cable packages).

I have a feeling that's not going to end well.....Especially after Opening Day. Some drunk fools are liable to throw beer on the field if things don't go well.

Why are you giving me ideas like that? LOL

If a couple people misbehave ban them. A couple bad apples shouldn't prevent them from lowering beer and concession prices.

I do remember the $2 upper bowl level ticket Tuesday days from the JP era and if the game was boring, you could watch some good fights in the upper deck. LOL

Beers were expensive in playoffs and that didn't stop idiots from throwing things on the field. Or that 1 idiot (who did get banned) from throwing something at a player in the OF.

                              Or even this:

Security in general needs to focus way more on these people and stop worrying about the littlest of thing to assert their power. Do better job at handling drunk fans, and worry less about a kid touching the railing infront his seat(since he's in the first row and the railing is infront of him).

Look at Westbrook stuff in Utah. The security guard was standing there basically laughing at the interaction rather than step in. Don't tell me situation could've have been handled better if security stepped in and removed that guy.

I think security has gotten a little better with looking at the more important stuff rather than hassling good fans.
