You can't pickoff to an unoccupied base, that's the most that I know for sure.

An unoccupied base is kind of a fallacy. As long as a defender is moving toward the base to take the throw, it's considered "occupied".

That's why you see timing picks to each base when the fielder isn't holding the runner on and they're legal.

I'm referring to a baserunner, like the same way that the drop-third strike rule probably says that it is not in effect so long as first base is occupied with less than two outs. They're likely not on the base either, but that is the base which they occupy.

So if there is a runner only on first, you cannot perform a spaghetti/inside move to second base or lift the leg and throw to third. You may only do that if you step off the rubber.

Oh I got you. Yeah you can't pick to second if no one is on second.

As promised, here's my incredible* Barry Bonds post in honor of his number retirement.

*It isn't that incredible. It took like 45 minutes.

In the 2000s Bonds would roll out the bed in the morning and would get issued 2 BBs.

Abit of "thread jumping" again, but I was talking in NBA thread about how archived footage in many sports seems to look so bad compared to how I remembered seeing it.

I was watching Baseball Seasons from MLBN and the footage of stuff looks so good (in this case, it was the 93 season). If I didn't know any better, I'd think this footage was from 2006 or something.

In off-season, they should really work on doing more historical shows. I saw they have MLBs greatest games as a show already, but even that is just a small part of their potential. The baseball seasons shows they have are all great.

MLBs media library is probably the best of all the leagues.

Soooo.... Vlad Guerrero Jr. had his FOURTH straight game with a HR. His stats are just out of this world right now.

                  .438/.537/.575 1.412 OPS

(the final numbers might be very slightly different as those are the stats immediately following the HR from what I can gather)

Also according to someone on the Jays subreddit whose apparently friends with Danny Jansen he's (Jansen) been called up to fill a roster spot after Solarte's injury. It's not confirmed as far as I know.

'He' meaning Jansen I hope. Literally no reason to call up Vlad this year.

Hope Jansen can be Jays C long term. Martin could be gone within next 12 months (if they can't deal him in off-season, I could see someone wanting him as deadline rental, especially if Jays pay off part of remaining salary).

Unless I miscounted, the totals are:

                          18-for-46, 2 2B, 1 3B, 3 HR, 14 RBI, 18 BB, 6 K

Runs were not tracked (were stolen bases considered, or did he just not steal?). Barring sacrifice flies affecting his OBP and careless mistakes I may have made, his numbers come out to:

                          .391/.563/.630

                          .405 BABIP as well.
