Man, this Mets 86 stuff is wild. Darling does strike me as an "embellisher", while Lenny Dykstra is obviously human garbage, but this seems bizarre that no one backs this up at all.

Feel sorry for the other Mets who'll get dragged into this, particularly poor Keith Hernandez!

How is Dykstra not in jail btw? Didn't he hold a cabbie at gunpoint while threatening terrorism, or was that someone else?

It's easy to say that money can buy you a title, but you do have to be smart on how to use that money.

For instance, Theo Epstein has been a better GM than Cashman and with roughly the same resources. However, the team that Cashman has built recently may be able to get him into that tier. In the beginning, it was simply throwing money at every problem and letting it all sort itself out. Now, he's seeing the benefits of reevaluating how to build a team with more player development when the Yankees shifted in the mid 2010's.

His legacy is also still yet to be written as well. He's still only 51 and probably has several years left to make his resume more impressive.

I thought he was in jail for tax fraud?

I don't really care who said what. But, as someone who grew up watching 1980s baseball, dredging up both Lenny Dykstra and Oil Can Boyd is what I really like to see.

But, yeah, Ron Darling is the consummate self-promoter. You only have to listen to his commentary for about 30 seconds before realizing that.

Apparently not, as he was on the Michael Kay show. There are a whole list of things he's done that make you think he really should be in jail, yet it seems surprisingly difficult to lock him up it seems

Wait, what's going on with the '86 Mets?

There's actually been a few books written about that team. What a disparate, ecclectic bunch of yahoos that team was. You had a POS roid freak in Dykstra, the quiet pro in Hernandez, two coke fiends in Strawberry and Gooden, a self promoter who thinks his poop don't stink in Darling, a guy who projects the image of being a great dude but in reality is one of the smarmiest players on the face of the earth in Gary Carter and a manager who just let things run amuck in Davey Johnson. There's more like Ray Knight who was always on the verge of starting a fight and Howard Johnson who was seemingly only good for hitting the long ball.

Updated renderings of the new Globe Life Field for the Texas Rangers, opening next season.

Globe Life Park in Arlington (their current stadium) will at least be used to host the new Dallas XFL team starting next year. Don't know what else it is/will be used for.

Not sure I like the brick pillars (for lack of a better term) in the batter's eye and LF. Otherwise, very solid looking ballpark.

Honestly, the highest vote getter doesn't really need that money. If I were one of of the guys i'd give that entire amount to a charity.

Or to some staff on the team itself (like if their social media person helped the push to get you more votes)

Just pointing out they now get money for being the top vote-getter.
