Crazy coincidence I saw on another website.

Andy Martes last game was August 6,2014......against the Royals. The starting pitcher of that game...Yordano Ventura!

Also, Andy Marte best known for playing 5 seasons in Cleveland. Venturas final opponent of his career...Cleveland!

I've been to similar places on vacation in the past, and people in these countries definitely drive super fast. Not like it's just one or two people who do that, that's basically how most people drive. Regular streets I find isn't so bad, but on highways it's crazy. I was in the passenger seat one of those times on the highway and it was late at night, and it was such a crazy feeling sitting there with the car going as fast as it was. Talk about life flashing before your eyes.

For both of these individuals it is truly sad...gone too soon. That said, the thing that is saddest to me is Ventura had a friend in Oscar Taveras who died driving under the influence, and yet early reports are saying that both Ventura and Marte were under the influence. I hope that people learn from other's mistakes...not repeat them.

All of these seem to be alcohol related, so I'm more inclined to blame that than crappy roads in under developed countries.

Going off early reports and obviously a lot of speculation, but it sound more like this brings home the dangers of drink driving, which also was speculated heavily on in the Jose Fernandez tragedy. Possibly something for the Players Association to look at, as even one tragedy is too many

                  Terrible news

I was never a great fan of Ventura as I felt he was a bit of a hothead BUT he had world class talent and with some maturation he could've been even more dominant than the glimpses we saw in his career. This is a huge loss for his family and for his team. If it's true that he was under the influence than this is an issue that the PA needs to take a look at. Who knows? Maybe there is a bit of an alcohol problem throughout MLB that no one really knows about.

R.i.P. I will miss the highly competitive nature of games against Ventura and was looking forward to another meeting this year.

This annual offseason death of [insert young talented player here] driving in a Latin country is getting a bit ridiculous.

Condolences to both of their families.

So I watched Game 5 of the '95 SEA/NYY ALDS. Man, when Buck Showalter makes big mistakes they're HUUUUGE. What a great game it was though and I had forgotten that a young A-Rod had an AB in that game.

To make make the Yordano case even worse...it is being reported that after the crash he was alive and while he was lying on the ground he was robbed, and was left for dead.
