"They got beat by teams that were cheating. We know that the Astros cheated, and they were advantaged by it," council member Gil Cedillo said.

Pointless and lame move. All the reactions of Dodgers fans I’ve seen are against the idea of that anyway. They really think the 2017 title belongs to their city? New York has just as much of a claim to it as LA does.

New York absolutely does not have as much claim to it as LA, but it’s moot really.

BTW - after almost falling off the ballot his first year (he stayed on by 1 vote, IIRC), Andruw Jones is almost up to 20% in his 3rd year. He'll probably stabilize in the 20-40% range, but that's incredible...he might benefit from some upcoming years of no home run candidates.
I will be fully disappointed if Andruw doesn't make it...and that's taking off my homer glasses.

Congrats to Larry Walker. He's a fringe hall of famer. But I'm not upset about it, he definitely had a serious case. His career was derailed with injuries or he's likely a first ballot hof'er.

And of course and to no surprise. Congrats to Jeets. The Captain of all captains. It was a pleasure to watch that dude for as long as he played and always will be the perfect Yankee.

Still the hall is incomplete without Bonds and Schilling. I would absolutely put Andruw Jones in too. We will see.

Got my tickets for this upcoming season! Decided to get seats in a section I've never sat in before, so that should be fun.

Late in season too. Risky choice. Game will either mean absolutely nothing or everything.

As opposed to a game early in the season which could mean absolutely nothing or everything?

I don't think they will get in, at least not through the regular process which is fine by me. Let them sweat.

Looking at the list of 1st year eligible players for next year I don't see anyone that is a 1st ballot hall of famer so there is a chance that Schilling gets to go in alone

Oh, that's going to be great.

The fact that Schilling isn’t in is ridiculous and why these sports writers are a joke.

they should put that on the fan ballot this year. my 5000 votes go to Bob Melvin. and if I weren't so biased to Melvin, I'd go for Rocco.

Computerized cameras to call balls and strikes will be used during Spring Training this year.

Hours after MLB commissioner Rob Manfred indicated that an electronic strike zone would be used in spring training games, the executive committee of the umpires' union clarified that the electronics would not be used in place of a plate ump's judgment.

So it sends a command to the umpire who then calls it out...I can't wait to see when an umpire calls it out like they normally would, only to get the other call in their ear and have to immediately correct it.

I still don't know how I feel about it, honestly. As much as I like the human element in the calling of the game, umps like Angel Hernandez constantly demonstrate the need for this. Maybe it's just a natural evolution of the game through technology.

It'll be weird once it gets implemented in regular season (whenever that happens) and I'd have to start using the "Perfect" strike zone in The Show to emulate it. Those personalized zones can affect the game so much.

Less whining from batters and pitchers (and the announcers) will be nice.
