Scouts watching the Mariners see a team in decline. Several of Seattle's aging hitters no longer catch up with good fastballs, and the Mariners' defense is significantly weaker at third base, shortstop, left field and center. The M's also committed uncharacteristic mistakes in their opening series against the Angels

An easy scapegoat will be Bob Melvin, is the M's struggles continue, expect a new manager next season, this is his final year on contract.

They need to put Aurilia in the third spot, where he can do the least damage. We all know the guy ins't clutch. How many clutch situations has he seen al;ready this season in the back end of the lineup? I mean come on! He's a good hitter, he just isn't good in the clutch. My suggestion is thusly:

            Ichiro
            Winn
            Aurilia
            Ibanez
            Boone
            Edgar
            Olerud
            Hansen
            Wilson

Aurilia can get the base hits that the Mariners are known for getting, those hits that manufacture runs, he's just not good at getting those two-out must-have hits. You need to put him in a position where he's least likely to face that kind of problem, and more likely to drive in a few speedy guys...like...oh....I dunno....ICHIRO AND WINN...and Ibanez is kindof the same kinda guy, bat 'em in, better for the #4 spot than Boone. Boone deserves his dues, but he's best in the middle of the power order. No doubt you put Edgar behind him though and you got a tough lineup. 'Course my advice is only meant for while Spiezio is out, when he gets back they should put him third and Aurilia 8th.

It's like a nightmare. I don't know if I can keep watching, I think I'm too big of a fan. Its painful.
