But the one thing I did notice is the Kip Wells has gotta finish off at bats. He get people down 0-2, 1-2 and he can't get that last pitch over. He ends up missing or the batter fouls it away till he gets a good one to hit. If he were to come up with a pay-off pitch it would greatly help.

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">
Yeah, this is something that has been talked about a lot. For a guy with the stuff that he has, you'd think he'd be able to finish off batters better than he does. I think he needs to stop screwing around on the 0-2, 1-2 counts and just go after some batters. Don't throw them easy strikes, but for crying out loud, throw something close!

Plus, if Kip is going to become the ace of the staff, he can't walk nearly as many batters as he is. He's too good to do these kinds of things.

Anyways, today: Benson vs. Miller. Going into the series, this was the one I had marked down as the potential win. Considering how good the Astros are, especially in their pitching staff, I'll be satisfied with a 1-2 series.

Well not much to say other that bring on the Dodgers

We have Perez on the hill tomorrow so it should be a good one to watch. Also tomorrow may be the day of judgement for someone. Jason Bay is just about healthy and has been hitting the ball extremely well in AAA. He could be called up tomorrow and someone will be gone, my guess is Rivera but I wouldn't be surprised to see J.J put on waivers.

Dammit. I got tickets for Saturday's game a while back and I was hoping Perez would be on the hill for that one. I'll actually be right behind home plate so it would've been nice to see him pitch that close. I guess I'll see Vogelsong and Nomo though...

Hey..good to see you again, joeboo. I was afraid this thread had turned into the "Karlos and Pitt Show" ("Karlos, Pitt...love the show? Doesn't quite work).

I'm always excited when Perez goes to the mound these days. He seems to have turned into the stopper for the Pirates early this season. I'd have to rank him ahead of Wells right now, which is equal praise of Perez and an indictment of Wells for his inconsistency.

Sending Carlos Rivera down right now doesn't make too much sense, since that would leave Craig Wilson as the only first baseman. Unless Simon comes off the DL, but then you still have to make another roster move. Mac's reluctance to use Mike Johnston makes me wonder if he'll be sent down (even though he has a 0.00 ERA, but they did that with Mike Lincoln too).

Yeah I meant to ask you guys that. What's the deal with Mike Johnston? He hasn't pitched in ages, but everytime he did pitch, he's done excellent. He's the type of guy that every bullpen in the majors wants to have - a hard throwing lefty with good stuff.

Nothing against Grabow because he's been pitching very well, but you'd think Lloyd would even out there action a little more.

Johnston had tweaked his back a little while ago, but as of Tuesday, Mac declared him to be healthy.
