Portland makes big bid at getting the Expos.

$340 million out of the estimated $350 million needed for a new ballpark to be recieved through a financing plan. Something tells me it won't work out though. Taxing the tickets? So what, instead of $15 for a crappy ticket it's gonna be $30? and to see a less than pretty team? Come on! I don't care how desperate a few thousand Baseball fans in Portland are, they aren't going to pay much to see a team like this. I still say DC is the best place.

I agree DC is the best place, but Portland makes sense. I almost went to school there, and it's a really nice city. They deserve a pro team other than the Trailblazers.

Another thing to think about -- any other place besides DC and there's going to be re-alignment again.

I've always liked Portland over DC for a couple reasons.

          1. Add Portland to the AL West and move the Pirates to the Expos old spot in the NL East. Then all the divisions would have 5 teams.

          2. The Orioles are way to close to DC, doesn't make sense to put 2 teams so close together, IMO.

That would also cause each league to have an un-even number of teams. The only way that could work is if they make interleague play an all-year deal, which I hope doesn't happen (not a fan of interleague play).

But Chicago and New York can financially and geographically support two teams. Baltimore isn't exactly a metropolis. Of course, neither is Portland.
