    But Chicago and New York can financially and geographically support two teams. Baltimore isn't exactly a metropolis. Of course, neither is Portland.

            When you combine the size of Baltimore and DC, as well as the surrounding areas, it's as big as Chicago and New York.

                  Think more along the lines of Philly/NYC than Oakland/SF.

                        You make a very good point, never thought about uneven leagues. I really enjoy interleague play, I think it gets old playing the same teams. I get tired of seeing Seattle play Texas, Oakland, and Anaheim 20 something times and only seeing say Arizona or Atlanta once or twice.
