I've heard Ducquette say that the Mets will be adding a pitcher who has another year left on his contract before the nonwaiver deadline. Who could this be?? Anyone in NYC heard anything?

I've heard that the Mets are going after Victor Zambrano too. He seems to be their top target but they still seem to be paying attention to the Benson derby.Comment

I know but there was an article in the Post today saying that the Mets still may be in. It was in the New York Post so it's probably dead wrong but I was just throwing it out there. But it definatly seems the Mets are looking at Zambrano nowComment

Newsday reports today that inside sources from the Mets say that they are ready to deal Kazmir in a possible deal for Benson. What are the Mets thinking? They are six games out and would have to beat 3 other teams to win the division. They are not going to make the playoffs this year unless they get Randy Johnson. If anything the Mets should try to trade Glavine, Stanton, and Floyd. I would not trade Franco and Leiter because they are the face of the team and it would look bad to trade them. When did Benson or Zambrano become these great pitchers worth of trading one or two high level minor leaguers? I say keep Kazmir, Peterson, and Miledge(sp?) and trade whatever you have left in the minors for some other pitcher if you really want one.Comment
