If the Mets only give up Wiggy and Peterson and sign Benson long term before the season ends I say they did ok. If the Mets dont land Benson another deal that has been talked about is trading Kazmir to Tampa for Zambrano. Zambrano is 29 and wont be a free agent for another 3 seasons. He is wild and does have some arm problems. The Tampa deal is far far worse for the Mets because they would lose their best young pitching prospect for a 3rd starter type in Zambrano.

Well they are actually talking about Benson being at the end of the rotation anyway..
    1) Glavine
    2) Leiter
    3) Trachel
    4) Benson/ Zambrano

the phrase "is young, wild, and has arm problems" basically spells out why you won't trade Kazmir for him!

i dont mind giving up wiggy for benson, but lets leave or future alone. as a mets fan im not " Giving up" this season but I am looking forward to next season and if benson isnt in that picture i say let him go. we can use wiggy in the offseason to land us a solid 4th starter, and use miliadge and peterson to land a decent 5th starter or a decent bat.

Yes, but no way the Pirates agree to that trade. They won't give up Benson just for Wiggington. That would be crazy for the Pirates to do that....

Or you can keep Benson and possibly get nothing for him after this season.

            <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

You forgot one thing - A supplemental first round pick. If Benson leaves after the season as a FA, the Pirates get a supplemental 1st rounder. That's A LOT better than just Wiggington.

Once again, the Pirates would be CRAZY to give Benson up for only Wiggington. Frankly, Wiggington isn't that good. You can't give up nothing to get a quality pitcher who's starting to come into his own. I think that's why the latest rumor is Benson for Wiggy, Peterson and a prospect from the White Sox.

IMO that deal STILL doesn't beat the one with Boston and MIN where the Pirates would get Kevin Youkilis and either Michael Restovich or another outfielder.

its starting to look like this Kazmir for Zambrano has some legs to it. I don't think our pitching coach can work that big of a miracle with him.

If Duquette gives up Kazmir for V. Zambrano, that may be the worse deal ever. Kazmir can't go from untouchable to trades for Victor Z!!! Makes no sense...
