I REALLY don't think that Kazmir would be traded for Benson. Everyone in the Mets organization is really high on him and it would take a lot more than Benson to pry him away.

I would agree with what you said fsquid. I only posted what Newsday posted online. I think ESPN had a nice article on the bind that the Mets are in and if they should buy or sell this season.

I read the article on Shane Spencer on ESPN.com. I am now very convinced that Wilpon was just too damn cheap to get Vlad. There was nothing else holding us back.

I think they also had some questions about his back holding up for the entire contract. I think he has taken off some games to rest it and in the AL he can DH every now and than and later on in his career. It looks like a great deal for the Angels now, but lets see what it looks like 3 or 4 years down the road. I wish they would have signed him as well, but I dont think they knew the Angels were going to step up with the money and they would have got him cheaper. The contract the Mets gave him was worth a lot if he met the incentives so he could have made the money anyway if he didn't fear for his own health. If the Mets sign Hidalgo after this season he wouldn't be that bad to have in RF for a couple of years and lets some minor leaguers get ready to replace him. What they need is some young pitching and that is why I think it would be stupid to trade any good/great minor league piching prospect for any guy on the market right now.

Vlad wasn't going to come here. Once Moreno put down his offer, we were out of the running. Hispanic owner, several Hispanic signings made that decision easy for Vlad. He never wanted to play in NY.
