Re: Barry, 8 away from 700

Barry Bonds might be right behind Michael Jordan when you think of icons of the sport. When Barry is long gone, he could quite possible be the best baseball player ever.

While alot of people hate Barry, I've learned to really like him. He's a cool cat that KNOWS he's good and has the game to back it up. I get sick of humble athletes sometimes because they aren't being real. Barry actually has the game to go with his talk, so I like Barry a lot. He is undoubtedly my favorite player in the MLB right now.

It's because Kobe has a big enough ego to run off the best player in the league. Kobe can talk because Kobe can play. But he had no business running off Shaq like that, but Jordan, no need to get into that, because we've already had this discussion.

But about Barry, he makes his teammates better because of what he does. Obviously the 2 sports are very different, but Barry has no problems hitting a line drive when needby to score a runner, instead of swinging for the HR on a pitch that is a little tougher to hit.

I respect him as a good hitter, but hell will freeze over before I don't take any of his stats from the last 5 years with a grain of salt.

                            Scary!

You know what would be cool? If Bonds had 699 home runs going into Miller Park... just imagine... first sellout crowd since 2001 (not counting the 2002 All Star Game).
