Okay Milwaukee, give up home run number 700 so the Padres vs. Giants series won't revolve around a home run (kinda like the their first meeting this year... god it was annoying hearing how many times Bonds needed one home run to tie Willie Mays all three games).

gotta stick with ruth...he was a dominant pitcher of his time, then came to hitting...and was hitting more hr's than teams on a whole

                he is the best ever

When all is said and done (assuming the best, that Bonds will break Aaron's home run record and keep a .300+ batting average, winning two more MVP's, be proven innocent of any steroid use (or abuse), and get a World Series ring, will he be the best ever in your mind?

Because you gotta remember what Bonds has had to face in the last 3 or 4 years in terms of what's taking his power numbers away... the amount of walks, corner pitching, SBC Park, lefty specialists, any count being a breaking ball count (many hitters can look fastball at 2-0, 3-1, and 3-2... not Bonds)? And remember that he's also stolen over 500 bases in his career, has... I forget how many Gold Gloves, forget how many All Star appearances, but he's had quite a few.

Bonds is truly amazing, and to see guys nowadays hit 700 home runs is unheard of. Remember that back then, there was the straight fastball (that wasn't even truly that fast), and I don't even know if there were breaking balls or changeups, but it was basically a "hit this" straight pitch. I mean, no disrespect to Babe Ruth, I know that there weren't really weights, smaller parks, or better baseball bats, but sometimes you gotta think of the things that do favor Ruth that don't favor Bonds.

Yeah, I don't know if I am defending Bonds partly because he is my favorite player, but nevertheless, if I loved him or hated him, I can't disrespect what he's done, especially in terms of best player ever.

Best player currently? Of course. Now, by best player currently, I even mean better than A-Rod and Pujols would be when their careers are over. I know that's stretching it because that's a prediction, but Bonds really brought back the game in the last 5 years, and he's revolutionized the game all over again. Of course, starting with Babe Ruth.

Ruth vs. Bonds... if Ruth played now, I'm not sure how good he would be. If Bonds played then, I'm not sure how good he would be. That's why it's very hard to compare and contrast, because you can't distinguish the two withing 70 years of time.

And I noticed that Hank Aaron hasn't been mentioned here, I apparently have no clue what else Aaron's done that's very noticeable other than his 755 home runs, so I'm not sure what I can say about him.
