Re: 2015 Spring Training Thread
I agree I was thinking he's be in the mid 80's. He looked alright. Still needs some time to get back into the swing of things.Comment

Carlos Martinez with a start for his run for the 5th spot. Two perfect innings, 3 K's.

Re: 2015 Spring Training Thread
Zito looked okay. You can tell he took a year off and is shaking off the rust. Kyle Schwarber destroyed him with a 2 run homer. Probably going to take him a few games to get back into things. Wouldn't put too much into his work today still early. I still wouldn't be surprised if he made the team out of Spring Training though.
Susan Slusser didn't seem too impressed on Twitter but I don't care much at all about stats in the spring.
I'm hoping to get some video later if it exists publicly. I'm mostly interested in just a few things:
Movement on his fastball (he really has always had a pretty flat FB and was hoping he's improved on that with the reformed delivery.
Sharpness (not overall break) of the CB. I don't want to see just a big loop.
And if his changeup is where it used to be. It was far and away his best pitch.Comment

Re: 2015 Spring Training Thread
Just heard about it! Another top tier ace lost for the season, most likely. Not only does this hurt the team the player belongs to but man it hurts baseball! When you have big named aces go down for a year at a time it hurts business. It seems like it's always the #1 or #2 starter of a staff that is lost.Comment
