A lot of credibility coming from a Red Sox fan...

Anyways my post on this yesterday was very wrong. I was just stressed from a long crapppy day.

But I do think the Yankees... D-Rays and MLB all screwed up. The Yanks shouldn't have asked for a forfeit but it was rediculous how they were never told what was going on or whatever.

The D-Rays were asked to leave on Friday before the storm and MLB even offered to finance some flights for the players families as well. If they wanted to help their families out...why stay there with them when they could've moved them into a safe place.

Then the D-Rays couldv'e left at 8 AM on Monday when the airport reopened but decided to stay at Tropicana field to practice or whatever. It really put the Yanks and their fans in a confusing situation.

MLB should've just ordered them to leave on Friday... and now they shouldn't be denying that they ever asked them to leave just to save face.

All 3 really screwed up but baseball is just a game.... these are peoples lives we're talking about. The Yankees shouldnt have asked for a forfeit but if a lot of fans went home disgruntled and the Yanks wanted some compensation. But they were still wrong.

But I don't thin the Yanks should be made out as villanous as they have for this. Think about it... I was at the night game and there was only 25,000 there. They lost 25,000 in concessions....parking... and then another 45,000 free tickets are being given out to another game. Just because the Yanks have a lot of money...doesn't mean they don't care when they lost 1.5 million on someone elses decision.

    Anyone else agree?

That's what I was thinking. Boston is hot and the Yanks are cold. The Yankees are scared :y4: :y4: :y4: :y4:

You're original post was wrong but this one is okay?? This is just a long-winded confusing version of your other post... dude, NO ONE is EVER, EVER going to feel sorry for your lame *** team or it's spoiled fans... how much money in revenues do the yankees cost other teams when they steal their friggin' players?

BOTTOM LINE: Baseball takes a back seat in times of crisis. As New Yorkers (though all Yankee brass probably reside in Connecticut) the front office should've known this better than anyyone. Kevin Brown should've put his left fist down the Yankee collective voice-box and saved everyone the trouble.

So, to answer your question... I don't agree. There really couldn't be a less important thing to worry about than the pockets of the greediest franchise in the history of professional sports when peoples homes are being destroyed by a God damned hurricane.

My post was not meant to be viewed as just an opinion by a "Red Sox fan", but was meant to be viewed as the opinion of a Baseball fan. The fact that this whole situation was ever an issue is a disgrace to the game of Baseball, it just happens to be the Yankees that crying, if it were the Red Sox i would be just as disgusted with them. Lets call for a forfeit just because the poor Yankees were inconvenienced by the hurricane, well, howabout the state of Florida don't you think they were a little inconvenienced by the hurricane!, just because the Devil Rays players wanted to stay behind and be with their families and try and protect their homes they should be punished for that?. The Yankees, who have a huge fan base in the Tampa/St.Petersburgh area, should have been a little more understanding and more sympathetic to the situation, it's not like New York is a stranger to disaster. Look at how the Marlins schedule has been effected, you think that they wanted to lose a home date and have to play a doubleheader at Wrigley Field on friday and then on sep. 20, on what was supposed to be their last off day of the regular season have to play another doubleheader, do you hear them or the Cubs complaining?. The Yankees should have just rescheduled the game without all the B****ing and moaning.

Here's somthing to think about: if the situation was reversed what do you thing the Yankees position would be then?.

I thought I'd never hear myself say this, but the yankees do deserve to be cut some slack. The people at MLB could have avoided this whole situation if they had simply told the Yankees before the weekend that Tampa Bay was not going to make it on time on monday, instead of saying, "Oh they'll definitely be there" after receiving a not so affirmitive response from the D-rays.

Once again, MLB screws up bigtime. Though it was incredibly lame of the Yanks to demand a forfeit.
