Lorenzo Cain is on fire. Since June he is hitting .356/.415/.624 with 6 HR, 8 SB and his GG defense. Last 18 games he is hitting .424/.493/.727. And July he is hitting .468/.528/.830.

If he keeps up his season AVG so far. I might kill someone if he doesnt finish top 5 in MVP voting. Home runs arent everything.

Another 8 shutout innings for Greinke; scoreless streak up to 43.2 innings; ERA down to 1.30; has tied the major league record for most consecutive starts without giving up a run.

Yeah, I'm here to sing his praises.

How do you prevent bullpen from blowing game? Dont let them pitch the 7th/8th innings.

Great game by jays today on a HOT day. They need good pitching to finish season. At least 45 more wins if they want shot at WC.

Solid win by the Jays today with a couple cool under the radar stuff happening. There was a situation with 1 out and Tim Beckham was on 3rd. Donaldson and Navarro kept flashing signs to each other, sometimes subtly sometimes not so much which kept Beckham close to the bag. Marco Estrada was able to get a very shallow flyball to left and Beckham couldn't get home. The very next pitch with 2 out Beckham became more aggressive with his lead since he thought that would be it, instead Navarro threw a strike to 3rd and Donaldson blocked off the base and tagged Beckham out.

The other cool thing was a great extended AB in the 8th as Jose Bautista battled Brandon Gomes and was able to get a 2 run HR to be extra insurance for the Jays.

Great game all around. Now it's time for the west coast which has always been a killer as they play Oakland and then Seattle starting Tuesday.

How about the Pirates broadcasters were justifying that as being good hard clean play. I've seen dirtier plays but not many.

              Meh...Gomez is doing it wrong:

Also, note they were justifying it in this case as a 'hard, clean play' also...LOL.

Speaking of dirty plays, here's a pretty dirty one from 1987 that injured Tony Fernandez. Bill Madlock made it a point to take him down.

Sad to see Mercer go down like that. Eh, there will be a fire sale in MIL soon enough. Another gaping hole for the Pirates, they're gonna have to make some moves..

Walk-off 2-run home run by Jeff Francoeur gives the Phillies the sweep over the Marlins. Francoeur has been so clutch off the bench this season. Love his energy.

Could the Phillies please sweep the Rays this week?

Not saying anything since I am a Rays fan too. Haha. I am going to Aaron Nola's MLB debut against the Rays Tuesday night.

Zack Greinke shutout the Nationals today and struckout 10 as well.

Mariners need us one of him. I'd literally trade anything in our system for him short of Ketel Marte and Edwin Diaz.
