Man umpires are so touchy these days. Ump makes a terrible call from behind the plate on a check swing, then tosses David Ross for chirping. Take the rabbit ears off umpComment

4 straight wins for the Phillies after the break. Nice to see them playing good baseball. Hopefully the second half is better than the first.Comment

Schwarber, Bryant, Rizzo in the 9th against Chapman.
Schwarber K's on 101
Bryant pops out on 101
Rizzo K's on 101
Chapman is incredible.Last edited by Jr.; 07-20-2015, 09:21 PM.Comment

Goodness....I'd love to have Chapman in Toronto but unfortunately that's not what they're looking at.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Yeah, I'm still not totally sure how people get hits off Chapman.

So you Red Sox fans who had hope before the break still think they have a run in them?Comment

Re: 7/17 - 8/2 Game Discussion Thread
Short answer: NO. Long answer: Fire Farrell now and give Varitek a chance because he was considering taking an interview with SD so give him a chance before someone else does. Also DFA Napoli right now, trade Uehara within 4 days get something for him and then stay pat because no one else on the roster is really that valuable to other teams.Comment

Firing a manager midseason would be out of character for them. If no one is stupid enough to trade(and why would they at this point) for Napoli than DFA has to happen. Shame too because he embraced everything that comes with playing in Boston. Hate to see his stay end so badly.Comment

If we kept Bobby V all the way through September, a manager that won a World Series two years ago isn't going to be fired in the middle of the season.Boston Red Sox

Thank you, Angels.
Kill 'em dead.
Great to see Pujols look at least somewhat like Pujols. The power is there. He'll never post a 1.000 OPS again but this is pretty damn good right now.Comment

Re: 7/17 - 8/2 Game Discussion Thread
Good grief! The Buccos are getting killed injuries wise at the worst possible time. They're going to have to make some trades just to replace some of the talent that's been injured.
As for the Sawx, I don't get how they were so hot offensively heading into the break than all of a sudden they're playing crappy baseball again. Maybe that was just a blip on the radar. Even crap teams can look decent for a while. (look at the Phils right now) Poor Mike Napoli though, he's looking like what happens to some guys at the end of their career before the steroid era where guys who were really good all of a sudden lose it without explanation.
As a Jays fan though i'm glad to see the Sawx fall apart like this. I do agree that Varitek may be a good fit as manager but I feel like if they do something like that then it's going to have to be as part of a rebuild/refocus on what they want to be going forward. I think the way the organization is very similar to how the Tigers and Phillies operated over the last 8-10 years. Boston has a lot more flexibility payroll wise to get the guys they want but at the same time they've spent money in ways where it's not going to be very easy to remake the franchise as easily as those other two clubs. The Phils waited too long to do the reboot and the Tigers are at the crossroads where they can reboot while still being competitive. Boston may be headed in that direction. If they're not careful they're going to get hamstrung by their contractual obligations. At least Boston has a very good farm system to fall back on unlike those other two teams.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club
