    Haha, that's funny.

Re: Duffey, he's been OK in AAA, but there are 3 or 4 pitchers considered to be better prospects. I would have rather seen May moved back to the rotation or Berrios. But really any pitcher can get destroyed by the Jays lineup.

lol ya, I guess that's why bad teams are where they are. Even when leading, they can't keep up the leads. Cleveland,Oakland both blew their leads today! Luckily though Red Sox beat Yankees! Scoreboard watching does kinda suck when the 3 teams you want to lose the most, are facing the 3 worst teams in the AL right now lol.

Cause A's didn't want Donaldson. Jays picking up guys on the rebound lol. Donaldson felt rejected/let down by the A's and same thing happened with Tulo last week too with the Rockies. Both not happy with how their previous team handled things, and Jays are there to pick them up and make them feel happy again.

On a side note,Donaldson-Tulo seem like they're quickly becoming BFFs on the Jays.

I remember when I use to get TBS also. They actually showed Braves games even in Canada. Always figured if I were to have a fave NL team,Braves were gonna be it. Never turned out that way.

              The A's are a depth-over-stars team and didn't buy into Donaldson's breakout.

But yeah, it's a trade Billy Beane would like to have back.

Didn't want him? Like the A's were shopping him? Come on.

You sure are drinking some Kool-aid or the playoff hunt fever is in stage 4 already. Beane said his door was practically beatin down by AA and crew. He repeatedly told them no until he got an offer he couldn't refuse.

Lowrie (23) has been healthy all year as projected, Graveman(24) is already performing at the the major league level, Nolin (25) has had a successful year in Nashville, and then there's the blue chip 19 year old SS Franklin Barreto.

Beane flipped a peaking 29 year old star for a younger and more flexible roster like he always has. Traded some wins in 2015 for much greater performance in 2016 and beyond.

I wouldn't even say that. They just buy into youth over age and performance too. The Cespedes trade, yup. For sure. The JD trade still is playing out.

They weren't actively shopping him or anything, but wasn't there some tension with Donaldson and management?

He made a jab at the owners saying they had been plenty of money to pay players if they wanted to. That's all I remember.

But have you seen any of the BS Reddick talks? And he's still there.

Uh, yeah. He's somewhat overrated as a GM. I mean, he's good at finding value and building young teams, but he also doesn't have to worry about building a marketable team to keep a fanbase appeased, unlike most GMs. So, he can trade away prime star players to teams who actually want to win now and sell tickets, while the A's would prefer not being noticed in that awful stadium.

They traded a superstar for four players. That's what I meant by depth-over-stars. They flipped Donaldson so they could get deeper and younger.

And while Donaldson was a depreciating asset to a team like Oakland, they should have gotten more for him. It's one of the best players in baseball for an okay, younger 3B and some interesting prospects. Beane didn't count on Donaldson continuing to be a monster.

I think there was also tension between Donaldson and the manager as well. I seem to recall he got pretty upset as he wanted some time off but they wouldn't give it to him.

I would say the Donaldson trade was a combination of status quo operations and the chafing between him, Beane and the manager. (his name is escaping me AHH!) It's probably why the A's didn't get nearly as much in return as they would have if Beane was being completely analytical without any emotion like he usually does things.
