I know everyone is talking Arrietta/Grienke for CY, but for my money Kershaw gets it. I know his numbers overall (W/L, ERA) may not look as nice, but he's been the best pitcher in baseball since around May/June and I'd still take him in a must win over anyone else.

Cool little stat I just saw. There have been 28 games this season where a team has scored 15 or more runs.

I would venture to guess the Blue Jays are most of those games.

For as much as Toronto scores, they don't have a high number of high run games. They just score above average consistently. They've only scored 15 twice and they both happened in the last week or so of August (8/22 vs. LA, 8/29 vs. Detroit).

I just noticed that Javy Baez has an extension on his helmet similar to what Jason Heyward uses. I wonder if he's the first guy to use that without being hit in the face first?

Carlos Martinez just pulled off a play that could be #2 or #1b to the Buehrle play. Some might say better.

Braves walk off on the Jays...nothing would make me happier than a sweep. One down, two to go!

Nothing could make me want to see the Jays lose as much as this site does.

The Jays sure do have a penchant for losing to the cellar dwellers

BTW I wouldn't mind the Jays losing (at least a little bit) to cool down the jets of one of my fellow Jays fans.

They don't need to lose for the jets to cool down!

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

Why? I don't have issues with the Toronto fans here.

                          A couple of random notes:

                          - I know not everyone likes WAR, but Bryce Harper has matched his career WAR...this year (I.e. He has been as valuable in this one year as he was from 2012-2014 combined).

                          - Even with Harper's amazing year, Mike Trout, who basically started his career at the same point as Harper, has produced twice as much value over his career as Harper (roughly 36 WAR to 18).

It will be fascinating to see if Harper catches Trout and who ends up being considered the better player by the time it's all said and done. Can't believe we get to watch it unfold!

So...the Rangers just took over first place in the ALW. Remember all those people mocking them for acquiring Hamels?

As CD has pointed out, that's probably too big of a head start to make up barring some kind of career-altering injury to Trout.

Missed opportunity for the Twins to put the heat on the Astros. Losing at home to the Tigers...smh.
