Madbum pinch hits against Chapman...and works a walk after being down 0-2. Guy is amazing...that was a fun matchup to watch.

Astros really are choking it all away in the last month.

Seriously. I love it even though I want Anaheim to make it. I love that they went in with what they wanted and believed would work. They were roundly mocked for being a waste of a destination for Hamels. Well look at 'em now.

As for the Braves, I'm glad we won tonight. Fun game. Too bad the Yankees couldn't capitalize on that. Price and Shelby tomorrow. That should be prettttttay good.

Who was mocking the Rangers for acquiring Hamels? When they first made it, I like most people probably didn't get it from a 'this year' standpoint but they have him for several more years so it made sense long term when they had Hamels and Darvish next year. And they didn't make any other moves outside of that one.

They got a lot of help to get where they are with Toronto taking several wild card teams down (swept the Twins, swept the Angels, done damage to the Yankees) and of course, Houston regressing from earlier this year and Baltimore and Tampa had terrible Augusts. Texas played much better since the trade and they have a good top 3 in that rotation. I don't think Texas's purpose of making the trade was to make the playoffs this year, but sure seems like it'll be a bonus.

The Blue Jays have only been 2 of those games. Both wins (15-3 over the Angels and 15-1 over the Tigers)

Has there been anybody to score 15 + runs this year and lost?

Barry Zito back on an MLB roster today. For anyone wondering.

I was mostly being sarcastic with that statement since they score a lot of runs.

No. A few teams have scored 10 and lost. Here's the full list (as of last night) of teams that have scored 15+ runs.

They originally said they wouldn't be bringing him up but they got a lot of fan pressure to pitch him against Hudson at the end of the month when SF comes to town.

It will be Hudson's last start and would be quite fitting for those two to face each other. Fingers crossed.

And Carlos Pena signed with the Rays.

Then was traded to Oakland for $1.

That would be a great way for both guys to end their careers. I would LOVE to see that so here's hoping most of the races are finalized and MLB-N can air it.

Jesse Chavez going down for the rest of the season probably was a factor. Also Huddy left last game early with a hip issue. The last I heard his start in Oakland was up in the air now.

Mark Mulder said he'd be there already too. The next push by the fans is to get him to throw out the first pitch.
