    SMFH.

There's no reason whatsoever that the Pirates should finish with the second best record in baseball and have to face a team multiple games behind them in a one-game playoff just to make it to a five-game series.
I like the new format, but it's one of those unfortunate idiosyncrasies that arises in any playoff format.

Looked at another way though, a 97-65 Cubs team that in prior years is sitting at home at least gets to play playoff baseball.

Yeah, better than AL Champ meets NL Champ in World Series. I wonder how many 95+ win teams were sent home packing under that setup? Dozens.

One wrinkle I'd consider adding into the seeding of playoff teams is that I'd consider re-seeding the ALCS/NLCS based on W/L record. Doesn't seem right that the Mets would have home field advantage over the Pirates or Cubs especially when the Cubs shellacked the Mets all season long (7-0).

Home or away, I still couldn't be happier with our chances in a single game with Arrieta on the bump. Gonna be a good one on Wednesday.

So the Yankees will end up hosting the Astros. After all that hubbub it shakes out without any hangups.

Really looking forward to both Wild Card games. Will be happy with either Cubs or Pirates winning in the NL. Rooting for the Astros all the way in the AL Wild Card game.

Boston's Killer B's (Boegarts and Betts) are the first MLB duo to hit at least .290 age 22 or younger since the combo of some kids named Bobby Doerr and Ted Williams in 1940.

Kris Bryant finishes the season with 99 RBI, the most for a Cubs rookie since Charles Irwin had 100 in 1894.

And Joe Maddon finishes with the most wins for a Cubs manager in their first season with 97.

Boras is just an agent for his clients wishes.

                          Worry about the Astros first.

I'm rooting for the Astros to win the Wild Card game. I don't care who wins the CHC/PIT game because those are two great organizations/stories though i'd love to see the Cubbies advance.

Really...tell that to Stephen Drew and Kendrys Morales. Both of whom lost millions of dollars because of him.

You're naive if you think Boras is truly beholden to his clients. Yes, his clients may say what they want to some degree but Boras drives the bus especially with any of his younger clients who are looking for a HUGE pay day. More often than not players don't want to deal with the business side of the game and leave it up to their agents to do everything.
