5 losses in 59 games. And Buehrle has 7 losses in nearly half that. Guess that means Buehrle doesn't deserve to be on the roster either! Don't use wins and losses please... He last gave up on a run on August 15th and three since the all-star break in 17 appearances. He's far from the worst player on the roster.

And although it's a chicken or the egg situation, Buehrle is retiring after the game. Is that because he's not on the postseason roster? Or is he not on the roster because he's retiring?

I don't think it's either. I think he was retiring regardless of if he's on the roster or not, and Gibbons decided they don't really need him on the roster for playoffs either.

Even not being on playoff roster,if they win the WS, obviously he should get a WS ring.

Buehrle to get the start in Tampa today so it's a Johnny Full Staff afternoon for Toronto.

The pessimist's answer: "I could have skipped the first 161 games and just watched the last one if that's all that mattered."

Which I do want to say something on division tiebreakers, I think they need to be redefined. If Toronto had to play a tiebreaker against NY, I'd have been outraged. You already won more than 2/3 of the games. There really needs to be another to decide the division? Did those 13 wins not mean anything? Sure, it gives me homefield, but I think the point was made already. That's what I'm saying if I'm a Rangers fan after going 13-6 against Houston.

We're willing to use head-to-head to decide other scenarios where there are fewer games played, but we still need tiebreakers after 19 games, even in scenarios where one team clearly won the series.

Well, I think I know why starters don't go on one day's rest now.

What a horrible end to the career of mark buerle. 7 runs, almost 50 pitches, and doesn't make it out of the first,so obviously that means he didn't get 200ip.

KC can now rest all their guys if they want, they won AL. Jays gonna end regular season losing 4 of 5.

Gotta hope angels and astros win then!

I love it!!!! Buehrle gives up 7 runs and DOES NOT get to 200 innings!!! and they just cost themselves home field throughout the playoffs. What was the significance of Buehrle getting to 200 innings this year? Would he have broken a record of x straight seasons with 200 innings or something?

He would've been 4th guy in mlb history to do it(15+ seasons of at least 200ip)

Being 1st isnt as much about home field as it is facing easier opponent in alds. Home field in alcs only matters if it goes to game7.

Buehrle milestone < Homefield advantage. Not quite sure what the Jays were thinking there.

Yea. That was my thinking...And now I really hope they lose in the ALDS because of this. I am now pulling for the Jays to get swept.

They didn't really have many options. Hutchison is crap on the road. The Jays figured Buehrle would've been able to get 2 quick innings. Actually, he could've been able to do it but a couple errors and a tight strike zone compounded issues.

Hopefully this mini slump is swept away once the postseason starts.
