    Arrieta, Kershaw, Grienke, Scherzer.

    Glad I don't have a vote.

I agree that it's a toss up, but Scherzer isn't even seriously in the conversation. Granted, he leaves a great impression and has pitched the best game of the year, but his traditional stats (wins, ERA, not being on a playoff team) aren't even in the same galaxy as the leader trio of pitchers. His advanced metrics (FIP, fWAR, whatever) same deal.

Scherzer's K:BB ratio has been insane, but he's been too homer-prone this season and that's really done him in for the Cy Young chase.

Speaking of Cy Young talk, Greinke's pitching tonight, too.

Amazing play by Rizzo. That throw was bad and the hop was nasty.

Chapman's coming in with 2 out in the 8th, and Cutch the tying run at the plate.

Can't say the Reds aren't trying, that's for sure.

Bryant with one more shot at #100 tonight, K's. 0-5.

Chapman blows away McCutcheon and the Reds lead by 2 going to the 9th.

Cubs win 1-0. 1.5 back of PIT for about 10-20 minutes. We'll see where it goes after that.

Homefield in the NL Wild Card game will come down to the last day of the season. Reds beat the Pirates 3-1 and the Cubs pick up a game on the Buccos.

Reds snap a 13-game losing streak.

Awwww yeah....Cubs now 1 GB the Pirates.

Need a Cubs 'W' and a Reds 'W'. Wrigley would be so insane if that were to happen.

If the Cubs get WC home field advantage I might kidnap Bartman and take him to the game myself.

It's the man in white! He's hiding in the hotel rooms and give players signals from 400-500 feet away, within a few seconds after the catcher shows 10 diff signs telling the pitcher what he wants him to throw!

And now, it really depends on what the Astros and Rangers do. If Houston can force a tiebreaker (and possibly win), I'd take my chances against the survivor of that and would rather Toronto lose tomorrow.
I think it's age. Only 20,not use to pitching so much. Once September rolls around,he's getting abit too tired. I think the stat SN posted was that he's made the most relief appearances of any reliever in MLB history under the age of 21 or something like that.

Seems like alot needs to happen for things to line up in Jays favor now. They need to win and Royals lose,to get 1st in AL and face the WC winner. But if they don't get 1st, then they got to hope there's a AL West tiebreaker which helps them out in the ALDS.

How about this list...Scherzer joins Johnny Vander Meer ('38), Allie Reynolds ('51), Virgil Trucks ('52), and Nolan Ryan ('73) as the only pitchers to hurl multiple no hitters in the same season.

Edit: I'd be remiss to not add Roy Halladay's 2010 even though the no hitter was in the playoffs (which is even more impressive). What a list.

Sounds like Mark Buehrle will pitch 2 innings tomorrow in what will be his final game of his MLB career. Won't be on the playoff roster(which I find to be stupid, specifically given who will be on that roster over him,who has done absolutely nothing to deserve to be on playoff roster,or even regular season roster).

Drafted in 98,made his debut in 2000,12 seasons with White Sox,4 time gold glove winner,2005 World Series Champion, perfect game in 2009.

Might not be the same "(in) season" but in 2010 Halladay threw a perfect game during the regular season and a no-no in the playoffs.

Entering final day of season, races not over yet, and no scoreboard watching cause everyone plays at once!

                              AL:
Royals win AL if they win OR Jays lose
Jays win AL if they win AND Royals lose
Yankees get home advantage in WC if they win OR Astros lose(any tiebreaker, whether it be vs Astros or Rangers, results in Yankees NOT getting home advantage)
Rangers win AL West if they win OR Astros lose
Astros tie for AL West if they win AND Rangers lose
Angels tie for tiebreaker if they win AND Astros lose

                              NL:
Pirates get home advantage in WC if they win OR Cubs lose
Cubs get home advantage in WC if they win AND Pirates lose

Anyone wanna just get the NL playoff threads started? We know it'll be NLCS Dodgers-Mets(with Dodgers getting home advantage),Pirates vs Cubs in WC, and Cards vs WC winner. AL side, not a single matchup is even confirmed yet entering game 162. Only thing confirmed on AL side is Jays/Royals getting home advantage in ALDS.

Max Scherzer finishes the season with a higher batting average (.217) than batting average against (<.215).
