      Re: 9/14 - 9/27 Game Discussion Thread

On July 11th, I was in KC for Blue Jays-Royals. It was the first time I had ever seen Toronto win in the United States after 11 games. If you had told me after that game that Toronto would be one game out of home field in the playoffs on September 18th, I'd have laughed my *** off because it seemed like Toronto was on pace for another 78-84 win season that was fun because of the offense, but not good enough. The fact the pitching has kept this up for 2 months now, I guess I can trust it, though the Red Sox series last week showed a bit of regression. Still wish they could get those close low scoring games like Tuesday was in Atlanta. That's the only thing that is going to hold them back, but getting to play at home would make up for that a bit.

Pirates lose 6-2. They trail the Cards by 5 games, and the Cubs trail PIT by 1.

            Corey Seager!

But since Don Mattingly has a really annoying tendency not to play his best players, we'll see Jimmy Rollins back out there in a few days because of "playoff experience", nevermind that Seager's been more valuable in his 2 weeks in the big leagues than Rollins has been all year.

Astros in free fall. 4 game lead on September 1 and 4-12 since then now only a 1 game lead over Minnesota for the last playoff spot.

I don't believe in the Pirates pitching. Chicago is downright scary right now.

What? Pfft, we have great pitching. Guys like Morton and Locke will be the aces of our playoff staff.... . Still though, not a great time for them to drop 4 out of 5.

Yup and you are facing Kershaw tonight as well.

EDIT: I just finally saw video of the incident. Man, Scherzer basically cussed him out and Williams sheepishly walked back to the dugout. What a pathetic display on his part.
I don't mind Scherzer for wanting the ball and finishing the game.

I agree...it's odd of how Matt Williams just seemed like a little brother getting overruled by his older brother.

Maddon playing the role of Little League manager today as fas the lineup goes with the Cubs expected to have a bullpen game - everyone gets in the game. Double-switch potentials all over the place.

Cubs break on top early 1-0.

Don't worry, we may soon see an 8:15 PM start at home later in the year. Now THAT would be weird.
