Yankees still in the hunt for the division, especially with a huge series at Toronto this week.

Just read a great quote that describes the Red Sox as this season wraps up and going into next season.

95% full, but only 75% complete.

We've won 4 out of the past 6 games.

What in sam hilll is this? Aren't we gunning for the 1st overall pick? I thought that's why we were losing so much.

HUGE series in Toronto starting tonight. Here's hoping the Jays can get out of this mini funk and at least take 2 out of 3. BTW Tanaka is not going to pitch in this series so that's a positive if you're a Jays fan. His last two starts against them has been outstanding.

Ya,gotta bounce back from sox series loss. 2/3 pitching matchups are heavily in jays favor,so hope they win. Bullpen and partially defense has been unusual lately. Up 4-2 and 3-0 in past 2 games, but still lost

The Sox just have to win out the rest of the season, with Toronto losing out, and something special could happen.

They'd have to win out,and jays lose out,but yankees also lose out after jays series.

But really though,i see 85-86 being number for 2nd WC,87-90 for 1stWC,87-88 for AL west and 90-92 for AL East winner

I don't get the obsession with Aaron Sanchez...guy is a big dude with a 96 MPH fastball who can't strike people out and walks more than he should.

Coming into tonight's start, the Braves had scored 1.5 runs/game in Shelby Miller's last 22 starts. They scored none tonight...lowering that mind boggling average. Unreal how poorly they have supported him!

If you're judging him based on his September, then obviously you won't see anything special, but prior to that he's been great.

From his return to injury/move to bullpen until start of September, he had 1.15ERA,batters were hitting .100 against him,and had 11K,2BB. Overall on season(including his bad September) he's 12th in AL in reliever WHIP,6th in OPS,15th in AVG. I'd call that a good reliever, especially at age 22.

September hasn't been good month for Jays bullpen. Past 2 weeks+ has been real struggling for them, reminding people abit of their April-May bullpen. Hopefully Sanchez and rest of bullpen can get it together cause they will be huge in playoffs.

I hear a lot of people pump him up...watching him a lot since August he is very hittable and hasn't been striking people out. I looked at his numbers and his K/9 for the year is under 6...not good.

Doesn't strike people out,but he still gets them out regardless. Strikeouts obviously better than flyballs to OF, but like I mentioned, he's just 22, alot of time to develop for him. 6 years younger than the average pitchers age.

To put into comparison, there's only 20 regular relievers in the MLB who are 24 or younger. Sanchez(and 20yr old teammate) Osuna, are in the top 5 of that list. Vizcaino of Braves is only guy better in terms of ERA. Osuna/Sanchez are 1-2 in WHIP & OPS and 2-3 in AVG.

So while his strikeout numbers aren't good, it's not like other parts of his game are suffering due to it. Sanchez-Osuna 8-9th inning combo has been a huge part of Jays team in July and August. Starters putting up good numbers and those guys shut it down at end of the game. Unfortunately hasn't been the case in September, but might just be due to fatigue or something since they're not used to pitching so much.

                                3 for Pirates,4 for Cubs,3 for Royals,4 for Jays.

It's getting close! Before the weekday is even over these 4 teams could all clinch spots. All these years seeing these teams out of playoffs(7 combined appearances by these 4 teams since 1994),and here they are, playoff bound in same year.
