Trout offensively has the edge, but Donaldson defensively has been HUGE for Jays.

The playoff factor will prob come into play alot here too. Donaldson is huge reason why Jays are in playoffs, compared to Trout who even with him,Angels might not even make it.

Not to mention in 2nd half of season,Donaldson has been better offensively, so that might also play into factor too, cause it'd be more of a "what has he done lately" type of thing playing into it as well, since the lasting impression of Donaldson is a guy who got better as season went on and helped his team into playoffs, compared to Trout who didn't have as good of 2nd half as he did 1st half, and Angels fell out of playoff race.

I thought Trout was great defensively?

What does he have a negative UZR (per Fangraphs) the past 2 years?

I'd rather have a good CF than great 3B. A lot of Donaldson's defensive value is watered down by playing a corner position. I have no problem with JD winning it, but it isn't the clear cut case everyone seems to be making it to be (talking mainly commentators who have actually been referring to him as the MVP).

Who is the AL Cy Young this year? Could Price realistically win it? Keuchel? Gray?

well it was keuchel for like the longest time and honestly it probably still is. you cant go wrong with choosing keuchel as AL cy Young this season. Price really got it together again once he moved to the jays.

At the end of the day, i would be happy with whoever wins it whether it is Keuchel or Price.

I can't believe what Mike Trout did tonight.

                  I seriously don't believe it.

That was the biggest catch I've seen in ages. They were down 2-1, he straight up saves 3 runs and prevents Felix from getting a 4 run lead in a game the Angels NEEDED since Houston won? How the hell did he run so far? How the hell did he jump and hold his position to catch the freakin' ball? There was a pause when he did like he was just waiting for the ball to fall. How did he get there before the ball did? HOW?!

Sorry Arenado (many times), sorry Rizzo, sorry Pillar, sorry Betts....that was catch of the year. My goodness. That **** was worth MVP alone.

                  Like, what the ****?

I don't know.. Mookie Betts' catch the night prior was more impressive to me, and that literally won his team the game.

It was a great catch, for sure, but it's nothing so out of the ordinary that I've never seen before.

He is. I really don't get it (FanGraphs D stuff). If you think he's a + defender I think he's the MVP.

that catch last night was insane... one of the best I've seen and he made it look so easy.

Not saying trout isnt good defensively, just saying that donaldson is better, specifically relative to his position. Trout is 8th in mlb in defensive WAR among CF. Donaldson is 4th among 3B. And donaldson does that playing on the infamous rogers centre field which has bounces unlike any other stadium.

There's no clear cut winner,it'll be close in voting, but based on how voting typically goes, and reasonings behind it, that seems more like it'd be in donaldsons favor, but you never know.

Yeah it won the game, but the game had zero significance. Insane catch.

Trout's ensured that the game wasn't immediately lost there, because down 4 runs to Felix is, usually, good night. Plus everything else involved I think it beats it.

Also, nobody needs statistics to see that both Donaldson and Trout are elite defensive players.

Zero significance to you, and to a playoff race. Could've been extremely meaningful to the players involved.

Both great catches for sure. I just won't remember Trout's 5 years from now like I have others

Mark Buehrle, starting to show signs of aging. 4 of past 7 starts, giving up 4+ runs. Jays haven't won any of his starts in a month

A reason i hate 40 man rosters, teams using bullpen so much, games take longer with so many extra changes. Guy comes in,faces 1 batter, next guy faces 2 and leaves, next guy pitches a few and so on
