Look on the bright side, I'm very sure Cincinnati asked for way more than that for Chapman.
Yea the price for Chapman was probably higher. And I'm not complaining. Like I said in the Reds thread after first seeing this. I wouldn't mind either one. Maybe Chapman a little more because he is a lefty but Kimbrel has 3 years of control left so I'm fine with that.

Ha, didn't do it while he was in Detroit.

        Nice package for the Padres.

That's a great; they got the Red Sox number 3, number 6, number 23 and number 25 prospects according to MLB.com

Interesting to see the Padres got a better return for Kimbrel than the Braves...granted, he had Melvin's contradict attached to him, but smh.

Well, don't downplay that horrible Upton contract. Padres ate 2015 and he is owed $16 mill in 16' and $17 mill in 17' for basically a non entity, that ain't small potatoes.

So does this signal that Preller is starting a new rebuild? lol. Poor Padres.

Did not expect Kimbrel to get moved.

yeah it probably is but BOS has the deepest farm system in MLB probably. they should be okay, good haul for a RP for SD though.

I think Preller just likes making trades. I think he got more for Kimbrel than he gave up. He'll probably make some win now moves as well, and totally confuse everyone. Preller is going after that hot stove MVP award again.

The Benoit trade was nifty for the Padres. Exercising the option and trading him actually saved them money vs paying the buyout and letting him leave. Plus, they got two lotto tickets.

It's gonna be an interesting season for the AL East. Yankees are always in win now mode. Red Sox,despite finishing where they did, still going after big players(as seen in the Kimbrel deal), Jays look like they're not taking a step back after this past season, and who knows what might happen with O's-Rays.
