We're having enough trouble trading Gardner as it is, and there's no way they'll bench Beltran while he's making the money he is.

I don't know about this "trouble as it is", I think Cashman is simply content with the starting outfield and Hicks as the all encompassing backup with Judge waiting on the wings. Gardner is a good player (albeit declining) on a affordable contract, if Cashman wanted to move him he would be moved (without eating salary).

I think Alex works well with others. The whole thing that led to him leading Toronto might come across as him pouting but let's be realistic. The man did everything he could for the Jays and Rogers belatedly tried to bring him back. The original offer was a short term deal with little to no power!

This is good for the Royals. I think I heard somewhere that Gordon was looking for something in the neighborhood of 80+ million.
