I don't think he'll ever be the offensive threat we thought he'd be but he's still only 26 so you never know. Had a pretty good offensive season this year and had the most hits and most doubles he's had thus far. Pretty good is not worth 200 million though but someone will pony up I'm sure.

The thing I love most about Heyward is his background. He's disciplined. He's not a ****head. Comes from a stable home. High character. That goes a long way in my book, even though it doesn't mean much to most people anymore.
Exactly that is why I am a fan of the young man and wished he was still here in the "A". But with a different manager...

But one word or statement to Heyward or any young free agent. Get your money man! If a team offer it take it. I would not give him a 200 million dollar deal, but a 5 yr $55 million.

HA! Anyone who gets him to sign for 5 years $55MM must have compromising photos of him or has threatened to harm his family. I don't think he gets close to 10 years $200MM, but 5 years at that low of an AAV is equally nutty.

I think 8 years, 120-140 is more than fair for him given the current climate.

                  He was crowdsource for 8/184.

But I'm sure he'll sign for a lower AAV than Matt Garza, Ricky Nolasco and Michael Bourn.

This is the best we can get for Castro?

And Theo and Jed would actually consider doing this?

Mariners and Brewers are nearing a trade. Luis Sardinas is headed to Seattle for sure. Rest of the deal is unknown.

Yeah, $11MM per year doesn't buy what it used to. I tried going to the grocery store the other day and....

Crowdsource seems a bit generous to Mr. Heyward in terms of AAV. That would make him the 17th highest paid player in the game by AAV, tied with Joe Mauer, right below Fielder/Cano and right above Tex/Votto. Only one way to find out, I guess.

I still think it's looney to invest 10 years into a player that isn't a Top-5-slam-dunk-talent-in-the-game type of player. 8 years is a little better. I also think it's tough sledding for a position player who isn't all OMG 30+ HoMerZ!! and derives so much value on defense to cash in with a huge AAV like that. People still see Heyward as an offensive enigma despite his being a consistently solid/above average producer there.

I'm ok with that. Gardner replaces Fowler. Castro gets set free from the evil Chicago media only to suffer the evil New York media.

can Gardner even play CF? isn't he more of a corner guy now. I'd rather keep Castro.
