Re: 2015 MLB Hot Stove thread
Random crazy scenario, what if Jays signed Chris Davis, and then traded Encarnacion in a deal for a guy like Carrasco?
The going rate for a top SP in free agency will be fairly high, but it will probably be around same price as Davis ends up getting too? Jays want to get a power lefty, and wouldn't hurt to get one who plays 1B,so they can use DH role more for situational matchups.
Carrasco was a name they've been interested in before(as recently as the deadline this year),and he has a long/cheap contract. Cleveland needs to improve their offense(was bottom 5 in the AL,despite having top 2 pitching staff). Could see some sort of deal like that happening, especially with EE having a team option which is a real cheap price for a guy with his numbers as well.Comment

Carlos Carrasco will be 29 on Opening Day and is signed to one of the more favorable constracts in all of baseball. EE will be 33 and is signed for just 2016. No deal.OSHA Inspector for the NBA.Comment

One SP, a LF and a few RP would be what I'd want. Only RP on the roster will be Al, Wilson and Rondon. I wonder if we could get Storen from Washington.Comment

Re: 2015 MLB Hot Stove thread
They were real close to making a deal at the deadline, but talks seemed to fall through right at the very end. Rumors I read now say that Cleveland could trade Salazar or Carrasco for a hitter + prospect. So if not Carrasco, what about Salazar in that type of deal instead?Last edited by Majingir; 10-26-2015, 05:35 PM.Comment

Re: 2015 MLB Hot Stove thread
Al Avila has said they will try to sign or acquire 2 SP's and RP of course. They are likely to try and sign guys like Scott Kazmir/Jordan Zimmermann type players. He also said LF will be a priority.Last edited by ShowTyme15; 10-26-2015, 07:14 PM.Comment

Re: 2015 MLB Hot Stove thread
You never know what might happen. Shapiro knows the Indians organization inside and out,he probably knows exactly what Cleveland would want from Toronto in a deal for Carrasco(since they tried getting him from Cleveland just a few months ago),and what the price might be if EE is one of those guys in the deal.

Re: 2015 MLB Hot Stove thread
As crazy as it may seem there's growing concern among the Toronto media that Alex Anthopoulos may not even be the GM this coming season. The fact that Anthopoulos is still not signed to an extension and Shapiro coming in with carte blanche control there's reasonable concern that the entire slate may be cleared in the front office and maybe even down to the on field managerial level.
More will presumably be known once Shapiro is introduced/takes office on Monday.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: 2015 MLB Hot Stove thread
Only reason i can think of is cause jays owners see him as a Beeston guy,and jays owners didn't like beeston so much. How do you let a gm who made biggest deals over padt year, and got you into playoffs, just leave?
Toronto sports owners are biggest idiots of any major sports league owners, but even they wouldn't be that stupid would they?Comment

Look no further than your own division. Red Sox had their worst season under their current owners in 2012, iirc, next year sign a bunch of mid level vets and win a Freaking WS. Then go back into the ****ter the next 2 seasons. So yes it is possible that the Jays let AA walk this offseason.Comment
