Re: 2015 MLB Hot Stove thread

Dbacks are now in pursuit of Zack Greinke. The Dodgers have started contacting all the pitchers that are backup plans such as Kazmir, Iwaukuma, Cueto, Leake, etc.................

I'm not a fan of this signing. Mostly because I just don't like Lackey... but $16-17M per to a 37 year old? And a draft pick?

This staff is aging quickly. I'm still hoping for a trade to acquire a young arm.

Yes he declined their initial offer...but they can still up it. If they miss out on Maeda, who I think is now their #1 guy.

Not the biggest fan of the guy, but after watching what Lackey did to us in the playoffs.. I'm down for this move.

He's aged very gracefully, and his numbers over the last three or four seasons indicate that he can keep it up. $32M + the draft pick is a lot, but it's a lot less than the other mid-tier guys would have been.

As time passes, the more I warm up to the idea of Jason Heyward in Chicago. If the we could get Lackey, Heyward and trade for a young stud of a pitcher, then this offseason is a huge win for the Cubs.

Exactly my thoughts, keep forgetting about Maeda...

I personally believe the D-Backs are contenders.

They are close to a contender they just need another good pitcher, IMO.

Good points. I guess I'm just expecting the regression due to age to hit at some point, and I'd rather not have the Cubs paying him over $15M when it happens.
