Re: 2015 MLB Hot Stove thread
Don't see how they overpaid for one of the TOP 3 pitchers in the game. Kershaw, Sherzer, Greinke are all in the same category the last 3 seasons (Jake Arrieta is on the outside looking in). The Snakes aren't trading Pollock.......especially not for Chapman.Comment

Players salaries as a % of revenue has actually been down at least 10% since 2002-2003 I believe. This will be a point of contention during the 2016 CBA talks.OSHA Inspector for the NBA.Comment

Re: 2015 MLB Hot Stove thread
Reportedly offered a 5 year deal, want him to complement Greinke.
Greinke
Corbin
Leake
Ray
Bradley
And looking for bullpen help as well.
I just can't believe Zack ended up in Phoenix... Honestly never thought it would happen.

Re: 2015 MLB Hot Stove thread
I'm not even gonna bother reading everything I've missed.
Hilarious contract, especially when John Lackey signed on the same night for soooooooooooooo much less. Just ridonkulous. But I'm very happy for Greinke, always cheered for him."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Re: 2015 MLB Hot Stove thread
Well, Grienke is 5 years younger a much better pitcher, so I'd expect him to get soooooooooo much more than Lackey. They really aren't even in the same ballpark to even compare."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. As for Greinke, it is refreshing to see someone who openly admits he will play for the highest bidder and that's it. Keeping it real.OSHA Inspector for the NBA.Comment

This is exactly why I didn't want him on the Giants in the first place. Don't want these kinds of guys to stink up the environment. He's a great pitcher and probably a great guy as well... but if he is just trying to find the most money, I wouldn't want to try and outbid other teams anyway.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: 2015 MLB Hot Stove thread
I must be the only guy who's not a fan of this. It means he puts this before everything else. I'm not saying he's not a team player or anything like that, but who's to say he is necessarily ever going to pursue a championship clubhouse in that regard?

Re: 2015 MLB Hot Stove thread
I don't necessarily like Greinke's attitude but at the same time it's refreshing to see a star player actually tear down the walls of artificiality and say "hey, I don't give a crap about anything else. Just show me the damn money!".
That being said, I remember back in his KC days that there was a big to-do about his anxiety issues etc etc. I wonder if that will come back to bite him in the butt by going to Arizona. He's the clear cut ace and a crap ton of expectation is going to be put on his shoulders.
Ah well, I still expect him to put up great numbers but in the end I don't foresee a championship in his future.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Most are, but I personally just don't like it. It's like saying everyone takes steroids, some are just honest about it. Re: 2015 MLB Hot Stove thread
What part of his "true self" did he expose? That he took the JOB that paid him the most? Is that not par for the course in life?
At 32 in baseball (which is the life equivalent of 50 and preparing to retire in the next stage of your life), what exactly should be the driving factor in him looking at these offers?Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Cubs have Javy Baez playing CF in Winter Ball. He would be their plan B if they don't sign a CF.Comment
