Lowe was coming out of the game either way. He was pitching on 2 days rest and had a 60 pitch limit for the night. He ended up throwing 69.

It was Pedro's side day to pitch and word is he told Francona he wanted to pitch in a game situation if at all possible. Do you really think they'd risk their chances in the world series just to stick it to yankees fans?

I don't think this is "bandwagoning" in most cases at all. Face it, the Bosox are a feel good story right now, with the "curse", being down 3-0, overcoming seemingly insurmountable odds. People like to pull for the underdog, that's all.

This is the problem though, it's going to jeopordize their World Series chances. Why in the world do you pitch Pedro there? He could start Game 1 on Saturday night, but now he probably won't. It's the same reason the Yankees lost to Florida last year in the World Series. Game 7 they pitched Clemens, Mussina and David Wells. They were fried for the World Series. The ALCS took so much out of the Yanks last year, just like it will for the Sox this year. Sadly it'll be 1975 again, with the Sox losing the World Series despite homefield advantage.

LOL, what you wrote is basically a textbook defination of what bandwagoning is.

So why not bring in someone like Leskanic or Myers? Now instead of him starting game 1 they're sending out Wakefield. Also, it brought the crowd back into the game.

The way i understand it, this was Pedro's side session. I predict he starts game 1.

I agree that Pedro shouldn't have come in. I disagree that it was done to stick it to Yankees fans.

Has anyone come to the realization that Lowe will be far better in the post season? Sometimes its the case that breaking ball pitchers perform better with fatigue as it helps them keep the ball down. If thats the case with Lowe and thats what last night was then he might be gold for the series. Maybe he doesnt do well in the regular season because he gets too much rest?
