What im basically saying is that the curse lives as long as they let it live in their minds. These guys are all awesome mentally. you have to be mentally tough to be a major leaguer.. but you dont think that Tim Wakefield is on the bench in the top of the 11th thinking "i gotta make sure I hold them down, or people in Boston will look at me the way they look at Buckner." As a matter of fact, I know for a FACT that he said that after the game. Its all added pressure that affects everyones game.

So do I believe in a "curse", as in ghosts and aliens, no.. no I dont. But a mental curse... there might be some truth to it. The way these guys have lost in the past just leave me speechless! I may be 100% wrong, but as a diehard Yankee fan, those are my 2 cents.

Also.. I am not taking anything away from the actual talent on the field.. thats just crazy.
They are definitely under enormous pressure but I don't think that affects their play. Maybe their managers though.

This game 7 seems like the Yankees have more pressure. They are in danger of becoming the only team who ever blew a 3-0 lead. The Red Sox on the other hand are as Bill Simmons said "playing on house money."

EDIT - That being said I think the players on both teams are too good to let a high pressure situation affect them that much.

The whole thing about that play is that I don't understand why Jeter had to go back to first base. If A-Rod hadn't illegally hit the ball, then Jeter would have been safely at second anyway. Not that it turned out to have any impact on the game cause Sheff got out, but I found it weird that the announcers didn't even mention why Jeter had to go back to first, and I guarentee I wasn't the only person watching who was wondering that at the time.

you return to the last base you were positioned when the incident occurs

jeter on first...groundball...jeter moves to second, but while he is moving an infraction takes place...jeter returns to his initial base
