I would hope they'd show Bernie some loyalty, and there's no way he can be the every day dh with Giambi coming back. Bernie isn't what he used to be, but he also isn't a .200 10 homerun hitter.
I don't really want Beltran, but we do need a CF who can play defense. Bernie's lost a lot of range, and his arm is terrible. He can still hit, but defensively he's just terrible.

They don't need Beltran, but they do need a guy like Mark Kotsay or Randy Winn, who are very good defensively out in the center.

Guys like Kotsay and Winn are the type of guys the early 90s Yankees had acquired to help the team get to the next level.. like Paul O'Neill. Getting them would be just as good as getting Beltran, IMO..

But now it seems like pure power wins titles :P

i dont think so. we need a player like beltran. he will make us even better. if you know anything about the yankees you will know that not any player can wear the pinstripes. you have to be a great player or good player and beltran fits the bill as a great player. bernie will play dh and beltran in center. lets go yankees

Why do we need a guy like Beltran? It's not like we can't score runs. The major reason I want Beltran is because he's great in center.

forget the fact that he is a great hitter. he is a great defensive player and has a great arm. we need to improve the defense and he is a great player. if we can get him lets do it.

without his 2 run homer you guys may have lost game 2, without his great d, this game could have been a lot closer.
Just wait till Arsenal moves into Emirates Stadium.

                            If not.. look out.

It's weird.. Steinbrenner's the exact same guy he was in the 80s when he was also doing the big spending, but the Yankees stunk and he was vilified. Now that the Yanks are winning, he's untouchable. It's like people forgot all about his 'lifetime ban' and the Howie Spira situation. The difference now is the Yankees have smarter scouts and front office guys than they did back then. they should get a lot more credit than some fat criminal blindly throwing out cash. Heck, a good chunk of the championship team was built during the time that 'lifetime but really two years' ban was in effect. I just hope because of the ban Steinbrenner ends up nowhere near the Hall of Fame.

Well.. I shouldn't say blindly throwing out cash.. thanks to those scouts, he's hitting a heck of a lot more than he was missing.
i read about that on espn. He is doing the same thing as in the 80s meaning spending a lot, and having virtually no prospects.
