Re: The DH Argument....
If it doesn't matter what the bat is made of if you don't make contact, why's it unfair?
There should be no advantage if it doesn't matter
They already let a pitcher use the DH because they can't hit & they don't let other weak hitting position players use that same toolComment

Re: The DH Argument....
It seems to me that people are arguing the same case.
In either league, you have a player who isn't competent on both sides of the plate.
Both the NL Pitcher and AL DH are one-dimensional players.Comment

Re: The DH Argument....
I'll just say that I love when the Blue Jays PBP announcer today said, "Adrian Gonzalez is taking a half-day off today starting in the DH spot."
Poor designated hitters never get their credit when all they do is hit.
I'll tell you one thing: being a DH would be very hard to do. If I ever have a bad at-bat, I get to alleviate myself more on the field and not just focus on my next at-bat... but as a DH, I have to sit in that dugout, focus entirely on the next at-bat, and when that time comes and I fail again, I would go into full stress mode. At least you can make up for your hitting woes when on defense. That always makes things feel better.
Also, whenever I pitched, at-bats were always very ho-hum to me. I was more focused on my pitching, and whatever happened when batting, happened.
All that said, give me pitchers hitting in the NL and the DH in the AL. Re: The DH Argument....
I'm surprised this thread isn't a rockin' place after Colon's homer yesterday. That being said, it was his first one ever and he's been playing since 1997.
So yeah, I'd take the DH over that lol. And I acknowledge that he's only had 228 at-bats.Boston Red Sox

Re: The DH Argument....
Otherwise what's really the point of having 2 leagues, esp. now w/interleague games.
Really what we have is a National Conference & an American Conference.
If the NL does adapt a DH, maybe we'll see more interleague games.
Also, do any of the minor leagues not use the DH?T-BONE.

Re: The DH Argument....
I don't know if it's changed since I lived in minor league cities but growing up the the teams would follow their major league affiliate with one difference from the majors.
In the instance of interleague games it would be played under the rules of the visiting teams affiliate instead of the home teams affiliate.Comment

I regularly attend Louisville Bats games and if the visitor is the affiliate of an American League team they use the DH, if they are an affiliate of a National League team, then no DH is used.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: The DH Argument....
You guys make the same deal over a pitcher hitting a home run (kind of jokingly making it a big deal) as people do when a hitter is forced to pitch and strikes out another hitter lol.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it
