I love not seeing Lovello's name mentioned there.

Based only on what I've seen from DeRosa on the MLB Network, I think I actually need to see how he'd be as a manager. Worst case scenario I'd have to think his guys would love him, but I can't imagine him really getting on guys. Seems like he'd be the ultimate players coach.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Why is there always a reporter that just assumes a living legend will want to manage and be good at it?"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

DeRosa would be a total failure as a manager from everything i've seen of him as a player. I know late in his career he took on a bit of a mentorship role but that's completely different than managing a ballclub. His demeanor strikes me as a guy who wants to be everyone's best friend.
I love the Gardenhire suggestion though, if he wants to manage again (I believe he was a candidate for a vacancy last offseason) he'd be the perfect guy for the Braves right now.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

From what I've read/heard the two most likely targets are Dave Martinez (Cubs) and Tony Lovullo (Red Sox). The biggest thing in their favor is that their contracts allow them to interview in season, which means the Braves can start talking to them at any point from here on out."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. Ahhh...I don't know how many more (insert random washed up vet) at bats I can stand to watch. Kelly Johnson up with the bases loaded and 1-out...inning ending double play."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do.
