According to a report from Jerry Crasnick the 3 candidates for the Braves opening are Mark DeRosa, Bud Black, and Chipper Jones. Their current staff is also options as well. Pendleton, Porter, and Perez.

I love not seeing Lovello's name mentioned there.

Ken Rosenthal mentioned TL is also a possibility for the Braves.

Based only on what I've seen from DeRosa on the MLB Network, I think I actually need to see how he'd be as a manager. Worst case scenario I'd have to think his guys would love him, but I can't imagine him really getting on guys. Seems like he'd be the ultimate players coach.

Chipper has already said he's not interested.

Edit: I can see Perez getting a chance. He's always been a favorite of Bobby's, and Bobby still has sway in the organization.

I think the Braves should give Bobby Valentine a call.

Why is there always a reporter that just assumes a living legend will want to manage and be good at it?

The Braves are already down 7-0 after 1 inning. Yay!

DeRosa would be a total failure as a manager from everything i've seen of him as a player. I know late in his career he took on a bit of a mentorship role but that's completely different than managing a ballclub. His demeanor strikes me as a guy who wants to be everyone's best friend.

I love the Gardenhire suggestion though, if he wants to manage again (I believe he was a candidate for a vacancy last offseason) he'd be the perfect guy for the Braves right now.

Doesn't matter who the manager is, this Braves team sucks.

It's been nearly 26 years since the Braves last fired a manager.

So another division title streak is about to start? Can we get more WS rings this time please?

From what I've read/heard the two most likely targets are Dave Martinez (Cubs) and Tony Lovullo (Red Sox). The biggest thing in their favor is that their contracts allow them to interview in season, which means the Braves can start talking to them at any point from here on out.

Ahhh...I don't know how many more (insert random washed up vet) at bats I can stand to watch. Kelly Johnson up with the bases loaded and 1-out...inning ending double play.
